January 13th Food/Cruise Gathering!

Meeting up at 12pm and departing at 1:30pm has changed due to the attention we will be getting from security!

we will all meet at 12pm and depart to Red Robin at 1pm.
this still allows plenty of time for you slow pokes to still get there on time!

If you can't make it, we will be over at the Red Robin from 1PM and on.

Information has been re-updated as well.

yeah with the size that,s gonna turn out might be a better idea to go somewhere that security wont bug us,, the noise alone uf 40+ turbo cars will make in a cover garage will attract them quick, great idea tho for keeping out of the rain.

wow 35 cars on the list now, and still waiting on word from other people. we are def. gonna need a larger place to go. There is that huge parking lot next to the old marshalls. Right down from the "Glass" theater and california burger.

To many people are set in the spot; it'll be tough to change now.

In the garage we'll be 30 feet off the ground; I dont think sound will be the issue. We'll just have to keep the reckless driving to a minimum

...and things of this nature.

Is that where we had that dsm meet last year?...

the parking lot is across the street from red robin, we had to move over there last year.. the parking garage would be nice but we got kicked out of the parking garage with 15-18 people after like 30 mins LOL. And we went to the top.

hmm
worst case scenario, we get kicked out, as more arrive when the pack leaves to a nearby parking lot, I will stay behind to tell the other people arriving.

I will post up my cell number a day or two before the meet so if the group has moved others can drive to the other location.

39+ ppl LOL

I just had an epiphany...

I work at a local Brown Bear Car Wash (I know, but hay its a job) and I can write a modest amount of wash vouchers; good at any of the 25 plus Puget sound area washes.

I'm thinking I'll bring three or four of them; I can pull that off and still keep my job. I thinking we'll have a quick, informal car competition. I'm up to suggestions on the categories.

- I'd like a best of 1G and best of 2G (I haven't decided on the Evo's and Gallants yet)
- Maybe a best project fixer upper car (ie. duct tape a guerrilla glue DSM)

And maybe one more class if someone has any ideas. Best OEM upgrades class (ie. 2g pistons, evo wheels, '90 oil cooler, 4bt in a '89, 6bt in a '98..?)

Someone with show experience should chime in with their thoughts. I'd prefer it not be all about looks but more DSM style; and I'm not looking for a street racing event, unless we set it up at a track.

I mean its just a free car wash, but I think it'd be cool. Maybe someone has access to an engraver and we can have some commonly leftover dsm parts engraved with a best of class..? It could be a prise potluck, we all vote, put 'em in a hat and tally it up at Red Robin. People that have jobs with extra little benefits can contribute four vouchers of some kind.
If not an engravement, I'm sure we can come up with the cash for four little ribbons. Anyone know where we could have some custom printed. Worst case, I'll pick up four different color 1st place ones, ok; but that be sad!!!

I have some ideas on the scoring cards for each category. After I get some feed back, I'll post up a prototype and we can refine the process. I'm thinking a simple 1, 2, 3 or 4 point system for best 1g and 2g. Maybe vote on two cars; max 5 points between the two. Then a more complicated system for the other two categories; with points for things on the car you like. With a maximum of "X" point possible..? Or just use the two 5 poist system above for all four.

Just a though.

P.S. We can call it the 90gst_sean award ;) Or something like DSMTuners Pacific Northwest... maybe we can do it quarterly.

I'm really confused:p

Sorry, I wish I was blonde right about now.
I say -- you figure it all out, and at the meet we can have everyone gather around and you can tell us the lowdown.

Then at red robin we can announce the winners. Bring the hat, plenty of blank chopped up pieces of paper to put the names in, and down and do 4 seperate votes, (or bring 4 hats) either or.

PM me, maybe we can work it out together.
I'm the host so I would like to give everyone else a chance, I'll just help or do the drawing and have the GF do the talley's at Red Robin and announce afterward.

ALSO!
Me and the gf did our christmas shopping today, and after we were done we tried to find another place to have everyone meet up at. I drove up the JCPenny parking garage, and being a Saturday the garage was not at all going to have room for even 10 DSMs to park. I don't think sunday will be any easier on us.

My Alternative Plan!
Across the street there is the Lynnwood High School (if you are on top of the parking garage looking out, you can see the football/soccer field.) There are no gates to lock us out, and there was not one single car there on Saturday. Sunday should not be a problem and there is a HUGE space for all of us to park. We can even park with our corresponding cars (i.e. 1gs 2gs GVR4s Evos)

Please let me know if this sounds like a better idea, it's not too late to change and I don't think the people planning on coming mind taking a quicker right hand turn to the High School, instead of a left hand turn that will take you 20 Minutes just to get into the mall.

As far as I'm concerned the high school parking lot looks perfect.
If anyone needs directions PM me and I can PM you the high school address (you can also search for it) and then you can mapquest it from your address.

I think we should plan for the mall because it is covered and this is western washington in the winter. The high school seems like a good plan B though if security is tight or the place is packed. Also, maybe a call to red robin to see what they say about roughly 50 people coming at 1 on sunday would be a sweet idea. Peace

How about best Home Depot car. Best EBAY car. j/k

Word To Onegeeeee,s Haha
on another note,,,, zak you might wanna contact the high school and ask permission for use of the parkinglot, that way if the cops come buy we,ll be covered,,, another Suggestion might be park n rides, anyway i know how hard it is to find locations for car events, but we do what we can, either way i,ll show up.

It was just an idea. I didn't want to make it a big thing, I was just thinking out loud. Now that I look at it, I dont want it to turn into a hassle. You guys should post weather its something you'd care to do. If not, we can bag it and have the meat as planned. Its cool ether way!

Maybe just the 1g and 2g thing then....?

Theres also a Target right there that has a big ass parking lot that the far end is away from any stores. As I live five minutes from this area, its one of the best spots. I'd say the parkinride but it hard to find; but may be the best spot as far as low down is concerned. Theres also the Wilmar off I-5.

right now im sure there is going to be no parking left at that parking garage due to all the people doing their x mas shopping. but since this meet is after x mas im sure their wont be much cars there. and im pretty sure i can make it now.

I swear there is an empty parking lot where the old mervyns used to be. Right down from the glass movie theater. And across from red robin.

JJ, I know what you are talking about.

I'm going to contact Lynnwood High School and ask for permission.
This is a great parking area and we are gaurenteed space without and hassle if we get their OK.

As far as the weather goes, yes the mall should be a great idea. However we do not know how much parking will be availible or how security is going to be.

So we need a plan B, and after going to the high school I think this is a great idea.

I dont think the high school will have any part of a import car meet..too much of a liabilty.
not saying we shouldnt go there butt, I think if we ask they will have to say no :nono:

i went to lynnwood on a sunday the school is out and it is just parking for the local fields and its complete open to anybody AND their uncle so feel free there and providing everything goes correctly ill be attending so add me up with my talon 93
