stock boost gauge works with ignition on . once car is running gauge drops all the way down and there is no respones of vacuum or boost on it checked for boost leaks sat. and dont see any visible vacuum leaks . car is boosting way to soon no cel nothing out of the ordinary just stumped dont want to drive like this all responses will be tried unless im told to try a boost leak

The stock boost gauge will not have any leaks..It's not mechanical..It kinda guesses..

I would get a real boost guage if you want to accuratly measure boost and vaccuum...

Also boosting too soon..Your probably on a t25(stock 2g turbo) they are almost insta boost..

A BLT (boost leak test) only tells you if your boost pressure is bleeding off, and where it is bleeding off at..

im running a 20g tdo the guy i bought the car from took the pillar and gauges but the tune is still holding iwas driving up the interstate and the car shook started breaking up gauge dropped to the bottom no vac no boost replaced solinoids and reset battery and still runs crappy

cars fine just need to know what could make the the gauge act like that so i can fix it

Make sure he capped of the source of the boost gauge(assuming the gauge was mechanical). The previous owner may have left you with a boost leak if he didn't.

i havent updated profile, thats my old car. the stock gauge is not working, due to a vaccume leak somewhere... I have no vaccume pressure what so ever. it was fine until the gauge stopped working, i would like to know what would cause the gauge to stop... i do not care if the gauge works or not. i need to know what caused it before i install the new gauge. i replaced all 3 solenoids & the gauge still will not work. need to know what would cause all vaccume to drop once the car is started. thank you.

Did you actually read what people typed in this thread. The stock gauge is an estimated boost level calculated by the mass air flow sensor signal. There is no sensor for it. A vacuum leak WILL NOT, effect the stock gauge.

Unless the vaccum leak is soo bad that no air moves through the maf!

Actually, No, you're all wrong.

proof: unlpug your mas and take your car for a drive.
(Yeah, I know with no mas plugged in it will run like crap) but the gauge will function.

The stock "boost" gauge is an output of FUEL used.
The gauge is designed for you to see how much fuel you are using, and to confuse the n00bs.

liltsdad - Listen carefully: put some electricial tape over the gauge, it has been re-programmed to do something else. It is actually FINE, don't worry about it.

Buy a real boost gauge, this will involve running some vacuum line into the cab, find someone who installs stereos, they will know how to run the line from the engine to the cab.

U said that your car is boosting way to fast, well since u have no boost gauge r u sure its boosting or all your hearing is a turbo spooling up very fast because u has a leak somewhere in your intercooler piping? Check all your couplers u might have a pipe that blew off somewhere.

Thanks for the input ill check everything and the boost gauge stopped working when the middle solenoid star making a wierd tapping noise you could actually feel it pulsing just to double check mas is at the intake and maf is at the inlet correct

How is the fuel usage calculated? By the maf signal. The amount of fuel being injected into the engine is determined by how much air is going thru the maf. There is no sensor that tells the car how much fuel is being used, the ecu only assumes x amount because of y amount of air is going thru the maf. There is no other way for the ecu to know anything about the fuel system.
