Sorry guys got back thursday night and just been real busy catchin up. My new headlamps have arrived and installed. However the a$$holes sent me the clear projectors and it seems the angel eyes are clear too. Will comfirm tommorrow . However due to this minor set-back the retro's are on hold. Also now I'm thinking Bi-Xenon. I dunno .

Has anyone submitted a recent write up or planning to do so ?

I am doing the exact same mod and will post pictures of the walk through on how to install the e46 projectors + d2s + ballasts on a 2g ebay projector housing soon. The projectors are sitting right in front of me and the D(diameter) is measured as 6.84cm(2.69") I am getting those ebay housing on monday and will let you all know what is the size on the shroud and if the project will fit or not.

You should just retrofit the projectors into your halogen housing. That's what I'll be doing. The projector headlights that I got from ebay didn't have enough room for the new projectors. I was going to use E46 DOT projectors, but I didn't really like the output on those. I'll be using TSX projectors instead. OMG

The problem of using the stock housing is I need to make the shrouds myself, and some ppl suggest not to use the stock housing because the light will be scattered everywhere. I have two sets of the e46 projectors and I will probably do a retrofit in the stock housing too. Will do a comparison write up. But as far as I know, using the ebay housing can be a clean install, all you need to do is a little trimming to get the stuff to fit, which is what "retrofit" is for.

I didn't see any light scatter when I tested both projectors. The TSX is completely sealed, so you don't have to worry about light leaking out. For the bosch, I had to make a shroud to avoid light leaking out. Here are some pictures.

The Tsx's seem to be a lot nicer . But I also noticed they are much bigger than the E46's which can be an issue.

I noticed the light output has different distances in those two pictures as well. I would also assume the TSX have better output due to bigger lense. But nice pictures and nice mod!

Most definetly a sweet mod. But do you have a link for the package ? The projectors bulbs ballasts etc....?

The tsx package ?

Been busy with work and other project. Got the Baer brake kits done yesterday. :thumb: So finally i got some time to do the retro, and it went pretty smooth until I drilled wrong holes on the housing.. It should all be done and wired up by tomorrow. I will post some pictures of the light output and cutoff of the E46 projector in the ebay housing.
Here are some pictures of the baer kits from my cell phone for whoever doubt that the RS limited 17s" wont work.

I thought you were going with the tsx's though ?
Brake look sweet nice job.
Just make sure you put the 5th lugnut back on

Keep us posted

The TSX projectors are much bigger than the E46 actually. The lens on the TSX are sweet as hell but i don't see how i can fit that huge A$$ project on the ebay housing. There wouldn't be a problem if you go with the stock reflector housing tho.
I came up a really easy and awesome way to mount the E46 with adustablility. I'll take pictures tomorrow when i get a chance.
about the 5th lug nut.. LOL i broke the stud and replaced it. Now i am looking for the 5th replacement.

So i finally finished the Retrofitting E46 projectors in the ebay housing. The conclusion is it would be alot easier if i go with the stocker reflector housing and just custom make a shroud. Wiring took me and my friends about 1 hour to solder, bolt and everything. Piece of cake wiring really.
The really hard part was to try to fit the projectors into the housing. I ran in a few problems including the base of the projectors were too big that when i try to adjust the projector level, the base would hit the opening of the housing in the back. So i ended up dremel the housing a huge hole, big enough to be the same size as the stocker reflector housing opening.
The original idea was to use 2 nuts to secure the projector and a spring over the bolt to adjust the length, thus, became adjustable. The idea came from the suspension coilovers relaly.
The idea worked wonder until I hooked the projectors on the car and tried to adjust the level, the springs would get stucked and lose the adjustability. :notgood:
So i ended up adjust the level, epoxy the nuts and the springs and called it a day. Over all, this project took me about 10-15 hours total time from start to finish and i love the outcome of the retrofitting HID. There are still small things to fix up and I'll post some pictures once they are all fixed.:dsm:

Whoa, this thread is still around. I just finished my retrofit today. Took me a while though. The ebay projector headlights made things a lot easier. I used TSX projectors, btw.
