I've got a couple pics. What is the exact name of this control arm?

I just the recall done on what I think is called the "lower lateral control arm". This other one needs to be replaced. What is it called so I make sure I buy the right one.

Well, I took the car in a couple days ago to get the lateral control arm ball joint recall done. They called me when there were doing it and said that the other control arm (the one in the pic) is really bad (must have tons of play in it). He then thew down the stealership cost to replace it at $450. I of course said no. Now I'm trying to locate the part to have someone else do it. But I want to make sure I get the right part for it. If I go to http://www.napaonline.com, I don't see anything in there that is called that. Could someone help me find this part?

Just go to your local junk yard and get one cheap. When i bought my talon(from ND) control arm and axel had to be replaced. Cost me $200 all together.

Don't they need to be replaced new with a ball joint? I didn't think you could use a used ball joint?

I got mine with ball joint from local junk yard bacouse the ball came off completely when i was doing 45mph. Good thing i did not crash in to anyone alse. It was very rusty control arm becouse in ND they use salt on the roads durring winter times.

i was about to ask this myself
i've been hearing a knocking over bumps for a while now
finally figured out what it was today

my.. longitudinal control arm is apparently bad
i can move it 1/16" up down on the wheel side
looks like an easy replace though. and i can't believe the part would be too expensive at the dealer.. i just replaced my whole rear wheel bearing for $120 from the dealer (normally 153, but he gives me the dealer discount cause i buy so much shit there)

anywho.. does anyone know how bad it is to drive with a bad one of these? what exactly does it do?
and i can sort of twist both of these arms a fair amount within their rubber bushings. is this normal? (if i push up/down on the middle arrow of the first pic, the arm twists back/forth. this bad?)

(i don't feel like i'm hijacking, as i'm just asking more questions about the same problem)

But I also know someone who works at a car dealership that could do it for me for like 40 bucks if I give him the part. I just don't know if I need to replace a ball joint with that control arm or what? And I might just go down to the junkyard near me, I know there's a couple Talons/Eclipses down there. But I'm not sure if this is okay... Anyone?

i'm not sure what you're talkin about with the balljoint.. the control arm should be one unit i do believe

When I got my car fixed about a year ago, they said mine was bent and my are wouldnt align. I didnt have them fix it or nor have I replaced it yet. I havent had any issues with my car pulling to once side since they did the alignment on my car. If you want I can install caps again to get the part number for you guys. From what I recall the part was ~$98 with the dsm discount here.

That might work for me, but am I wrong in thinking that that would come with a ball joint too? Or does this control arm not have a ball joint? Is it just a support arm or something?

i still think you're worrying about this too much. find/buy the part and put it on. i sincerely doubt you're going to need to buy an additional balljoint and have it pressed in or something.

it looks to me like there's maybe 3 bolts holding it in

It's not that I'm worrying. It's more that I'm confused as to what this f-ing this does ! I'm not sure if it even contains a ball joint??? It it's just the arm, then I would do it myself. But I'm not sure about it... I guess I'm not all that familiar with the suspension and how it works. If someone could draw me a picture or show me a diagram that would be awesome!!!
