Isn't an Evo3 mani supposed to be bigger than a 2g?

Okay, I bought an "Evo 3" manifold from a vendor on here (won't mention who) a while back. I got looking at it and I thought to myself, "Wow, that looks like the size of a stock 2g." I always thought the Evo 3 had larger runners than the 2g. I measured the runner side-to-side and up and down. 2" vertical, and about 1.25" horizintal. Then, my friend came over with his stock 2g mani and they measured up the same. I remeber SBR's site had a comparision, and the Evo was bigger. Can someone help me out? I really hope I didn't get ripped-off. Either that, or I'm a dummy. :D

Yeah, man... I sure thought that was true. I mean, I knew it. I measured that collector just now, and it's about 2.25". That's about 5.7-5.8 CM. Gee, just like a 2g. I even asked right before "are you sure it's an Evo 3?" The price was pretty low, so I thought I'd ask. Just confused.
 
yes the evo mani should be bigger. however you should have just spent the few extra buck and bought the SBR manifold. its obviously larger.

thanks for the compare between the Evo and the sbr manifolds there project tsi.....I have a 2G manni and was thinking about getting a evoIII.....now we know where its at...either go with a 2G or go with a sbr manni now :thumb: ...thanks again for clearing that up project tsi
 
I couldnt see the pic that is posted but when I called slowboy I asked them if the evo3 should be bigger on the runner side compared to a stock manifold and they said yes but barley. It's the collector thats alot bigger. I measured my first gen manifold compared to my evo3 and the evo3 runner is barely bigger then the stock one. Now the collector thats a different story. Is this how it should be is what we are saying?

Well, I'll get what I want and I didn't feel like being on a waiting list. The "Evo 3" I got will more than suffice for my setup, so why would I have wanted to pay about $75 more? BTW... it turns out i was measuring it like a dumbass. It's an Evo. I guess I need glasses. Sorry for the confusion.
 
I don't think to highly of those SBR manifolds after a couple friends bought them.

I know 3 locals who all have SBR manifolds. All bought around the time they came out and all of them are cracked now. These guys all use turbo timers or let there cars cool down and have decent EGT's.

I myself have a used factory EVO III manifold I've heated up cherry red a few times and still no cracks or warp.

If only like one person had cracked one I wouldnt think much of it but all 3 of them have cracked and had to weld them up.

Food for thought.
 
Hmm thats odd. ive had my SBR mani on for over a month now, Ill drive it hard, Yes ive seen it get very cherry red and I dont use a Turbo Timer, but i have a egt, and Its not cracked or warped or anything. Looks almost just like the day I bought it. also, apparently, the SBR mani's have a special something in them to help them to not crack, at least thats what Cragger said on the phone
