Is this normal bearing wear?

Hello, I have not been able to find this answer and my manual is in another city. I have just cracked open the oil pan on a new car I bought to determine what rods I have. I was wondering if this was normal bearing wear. If so, could I just slap the bearings back on and close the oil pan back up or are there precautions I must take? I have no reason to believe there is any damage and there isn't a spec of metal in the pan. Thanks for any help or resources that you may point me towards.

Looks like the result of a barrel-shaped journal; larger in the center and smaller on the outer edges. Usually from improper grinding or polishing. The tighter clearance in the center causes the accelerated wear that you see.

Yes, it definitely needs to be addressed. Next step would be to remove the crank, clean it thoroughly and mic the journals to verify the problem. Then you can make the decision to either grind the crank or replace it.
