Hey guys. I just got done swaping in my t28 and can't get the thing to boost past 10psi with my mbc. The more i turn it up, the higher it will spike but then drop back down. The higher it revs the lower the boost will go.

It boosted perfect with the t25 at 14psi. So, after some investigating i found this crack in my manifold. Its small but i can feel a leak when the car is running. My question is, could this small leak really prevent me from building boost or do i have a larger problem somewhere? Also, any good recommendations on getting this repaired and it lasting more than a few months? I've read several threads but it seems everyone has different opinions.

It will affect spool up but doubt much about building boost. Make sure you dont have any boost leaks, and that you have the MBC set up right. And that the wastegate actuator is in working order.

Yes, replace it and do a BLT to find any other leaks you might have.

To answer your question, a pre turbo exhaust leak can effect spool. If you can feel it coming out from the crack, then it most likely is effecting it somewhat. It may not be the full source of your issues, but is most likely attributing to the problem. I'd do a boost leak test on the car, and find another stock 2g manifold on the car to fix the crack. Could have someone weld the crack up as well, but OEM manifolds are not that expensive.

Thinking i may just order one of those fp manifolds that are on sale for $195 shipped. It will take me at least a week to do a boost leak test. Actuator seems as though its holding fine, but i'll try and swap my stock one from the t25 over and see what happens.

As mentioned, do a boost leak test and if you do have pre turbine exhaust leaks, it will hinder spool up. Best way IMO to find them is run some Seafoam through the motor. Any leak will billow out smoke.
