Is this a good deal, or to good to be true?

I bought my car about two months ago, and the N/T power isn't exactly what i want. I've been looking into turbo kits, and being a college student, i'm broke. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a small turbo kit that i could run on stock internals to possibly help out with the power.

I found this turbo kit, but the price seems rather low and i was wondering the quality of the kit.

as a fellow n/t owner i vote keep the n/t as a DD and save up for a nice awd tsi or a gsx but that kit doesnt seem to be to expensive and it comes with alot of goodies.

If it were my car I would just keep it n/t and save up for a turbo car. The kit is cheap but remember you get what you pay for and for 800 you can probably find a turbo car not running. that is my opinion though.

I knew somebody with a 2 N/A ebay turboed and it was spunky but not fast. The question is, how long will that turbo last?? Craigslist is your friend, find turboed car.

Obviously no one knows for sure and the ad doesn't give you any specifics. It doesn't sound like it is worth the risk. Plus if you get that kit and you want it to run nice you should get injectors, fuel, pump, fuel filter, maybe new fuel line, some sort of tuning software, someone to tune it, and a downpipe. (not everything)

Injectors: $150
Fuel Pump: $150
Fuel Filter: $100
Fuel Line: $80
Tune Software: $300 (Being Generous)
Tuner: $100

Not to mention when the turbo craps out(which it will pretty soon cause it looks shitty) and shoots shit into your intake.... you will need a new engine. SO, no it's not worth it.

Yeah what they said ^^^ N/T's are reliable for a reason. I love my N/T because it is reliable, I just "putt" it around every day, drive like a grandma. Then when I get in my Tsi AWD, I turn into a kid again It's worth the wait, trust me.

seriously 100 dollars for a fuel filter? id rather run a elcheapo and buy it more often. and you dont HAVE to have all that stuff except the downpipe. although it will run a tad rough.it will work. but like mentioned above a turbo is not the place to go cheap

Didn't say you "HAVE" to have all of these things, I said "Plus if you get that kit and you want it to run nice you should..."

And a "tad rough" is an understatement.

If your going to do it, do it right and don't half ass it like 93ETGOCART suggest.

all it needs is a downpipe ,a wally 255 ,and a 12:1 FMU 420as can handle about 8-10psi before you run into trouble. For a low boost application that kit will be fine, ebay turbos last a lot longer at 8 psi than they do at 25.

I would try to buy a a turbo eclipse instead of trying to make it turbo. You are saying you are broke so you might be better off just buying it stock turbo

Ide say go ahead and buy a 1g gst unless you really like the 2g look like me
But itd be way easier to go with a stock turbo'ed, and they have more potential when you start to dump money into it.

Thanks guys, i knew you'd be able to help. I just thought that the kit seemed a little sketchy. So since you dont advise a turbo, and i want a 2g eclipse, what would you suggest for some extra power besides i/h/e?

For your non turbo you could get a exhaust system and intake. They are both very basic and pretty affordable and will give it a bit of a kick. Unless you want a 420a that kicks ass, don't put too much money into it.

For the 4g63's....unlimited amount of mods really. But use the search button man, or read through some of my old threads if you want. I asked a ton of questions just like yours and I got some very good responses back.
