Ok, I've just got my Lucas 550cc in today and I was just wondering if this set up is ok for now until my SAFC arrive somehow next week.
What I've got in my ride is:

T3/T4
255 Walbro Pump
apexi BOV
greddy Big FMIC
port 02 housing
3" downpipe and Exhaust
CommandFlow FPR
Exedy clutch

Ok, my car is running super rich for a month now, but I've kept my boost to 6-10 psi. Can I install my injectors today while schools not yet starting and install my SAFC2 somehow next week when it arrives. Is this safe? Is this ok for a couple of days? This will not blow my motor if I still kept it at the same low boost.

Thanks for any help.

first of all you need to get an ajustable fuel pressure regulator not that commando flow crap the only raises it. You need to be able to drop your pressure back to stock as your fuel pump is whats making you run rich which you describe. If you were to put those injectors in, being as rich as you say now, you would be lucky if the car even starts. Do you have a fuel pressure guage to see what you PSI is at the rail to see if you really are rich? I highly suggest NOT installing larger injectors without fuel control.

I have 550cc injectors in my T28 powered 98 GSX. I am running at 93% IDC moving 34LB/MIN. I would guess that a 50 trim is gonna move at least 45LB/MIN so you will probably be running you IDC above 100%.

There really is no reason to get 550cc injectors. I am kinda kicking myself in the @$$ for getting them. They don't leave much room for growth. There is a myth that bigger injectors cause the car to idle like crap but that is really all in the tune.

As for the stock FPR and the 255. It is true you are overdriving the stock FPR return capabilities but your car will still run just fine. I just recently upgraded to an AFPR. Prior to my upgrade my LTFT LO was -12% and my LTFT MID was -6%. The computer can compensate for the higher fuel pressure but after my AFPR I was able to get both down to 0 with minimal tuning.

For a T3/T4 at a minimum I would recommend 650cc injectors .

Do not install your injectors until you get the injector controller. You wont gain anything until its tuned.

Do not put the injectors in until the AFC goes in. The 550's are 22% larger than the stock 450s. You will run super rich because the ecu will not be compensating for the larger volume of fuel being delivered. I had to drive my car home when it was broken into and they stole my AFC and I went through about 2 gallons of gas in 20 miles or less and it was a pain to drive, smoke everywhere. Just wait.

I'm going to get the aftermarket FPR tommorow, the only store here sells the AEM so that will be the one I'm getting or other than that, I will have to wait longer for another name brand product.

The T3/T4 is the Aresearch with 3" inlet and 2.5" outlet, it is still internally wastegated not external. It uses the same big 16g exhaust housing but is ported, I ask for big 16g and got a 16g T3/T4 converted by a local turbo shop. I'm assumming 50 trim.

Should I put in the SAFC2 in first before the 550cc then. By the way, I will be putting in the AEM FPR first thing tommorow.

I'm really not looking for major hp gain, just looking to see 270whp. I will be taking my car in for a Dyno tune at Horsepower Freaks after everything is install. Unless if anyone is willing to teach me how to street tune it with SAFC.

Remember, I'm a noobee to dsm and I do use this as my daily drive car.

Thanks guys

another question? The shop told me that for the AEM FPR, I still have to use the stock FPR? yes or no

I think what they are trying to tell you is they dont have a fitting for the fuel rail. They plan on piggy backing your AEM on your OEM FPR. This will not solve your problem. The problem is that you fuel pump is outflowing your OEM FPR so you will still have this problem if you piggy back another FPR on it.

You could remove your fuel rail and have it threaded for a and NTP fitting or you can get an FPR made specifically for your fuel rail.

Is there a reason you dont' want to order the correct parts over the internet instead of buying off the shelf at some local place that doesn't sound like they know what they are doing?

Install the injectors and afc at the same time. Buy an adjustable fuel pressure regulator that can be made to work with the stock rail and will lower your fuel pressure to stock base settings. Aeromotive, SX, Paxton, they all can be made to work on our cars pretty easily and they work.

Just get a 6AN fitting from Buschur for the return side of the fuel rail, some hose, some more fittings, and an Aeromotive regulator (has 6AN ends). Order your stuff from the nternet and have them install it. Bam, problem solved, and you'll have a pretty solid fuel setup, too.

Thats probably the only part he needs to make the AEM FPR work.

Thanks for all help. I'll try ordering the FRP from the net. I've had bad experience ordering from the net, thats why I get kinda shaky thinking of credit cards and internet, but I'll give it a try this time.

So Aeromotive is good, thats what I'll order.

Thanks

How much boost are you running? Also, what fuel pump?

I ran a charged-air AFPR, walbro 255hp rewired, & stock 450cc injectors on my T-28 and my IDC never went beyond 90%. My IDC was 86% on 19lbs when I ran 12.8 in the 1/4 according to my trusty pocket logger setup.

I also was running a 98 GSX.

Just a quick hint, 6AN refers to the size of the inner diameter of the pipe or fitting. You can convert it to inches by dividing the AN # by 16, so in this case it'd be 6/16, or 3/8".

I've personally been ordering with CCs online since I was old enough to have my own, and have had no complaints. This one time my bank sent me a replacement just because my card has seen a lot of online transactions and they wanted to make sure I got a new card every so often to further cut down on the chance of someone misusing it. Order from the sponsors, they're good. I use roadraceengineering, buschur, slowboy, dsmparts, summit racing, taboospeedshop, and diamondstarmotorsport. I've had a great experience ordering from these guys. I got my fuel stuff from slowboyracing.com

you asked for a 16g and got a 50 trim?

Thats correct. The shop ran out of big 16g, so they converted a big 16g exhaust housing and center piece into a T3/T4. The turbo is T3 wheel with the T4 housing.
