I just got my head rebuilt and wanted to know if there is a different way to prime the engine, btw I wanted to do oil pump method but I forgot to tell my buddy to do that, and all the timing components are on already, thanks

disable either fuel or spark and spin the engine over with the starter until you see the oil flow on top of the head.

If the timing stuff is on, give up on the oil pump method. You can disable your fuel system by pulling the MPI relay and cranking it. It won't get oil on the lobes before they start to turn, but it will oil them before the engine is running anyway.

If it were me, I'd just fire it up and call it a day. I just wouldn't keep cranking it if it didn't start up first-try.

If you haven't filled it with oil yet, pull the valve cover and just dump oil all over the cams to fill it up.

Is it okay just to turn on the car as is? I put a ton of clevite assembly lube on the cams before already also

did you get the lube on the cam jourals where the ride in the head and the lobes?

Please dont!!

on the back of the intake is a vacuum fitting take it out, now pull the oil pressure sending unit and thred the fitting in there. Get a fluid transfer pump and pump oil through the fitting. take off the oil cap and you can watch oil coming out the lifters. :thumb:

Never turn it over with dry lifters.

what I usually do when I am priming the engine, after I put permatex assembly lub on all and every component that does anything(cams, SOAK the lifters, rockers, blah blah) I turn the motor over with the spark plugs out(ignition disabled also) and the injectors disconnected until I build some oil pressure. If you do an oil pump, dont forget to pack it with some vaseline or the equivelent.
