Is the 1G top-center wing brake light LED or bulb?

Looking at my '90 schematics, there's one bulb for the non-wing Eclipse, and three bulbs for the winged Eclipse. Looking at the specs, it's 27W for the non-wing single bulb and 5W for the winged triple bulb. The only way I can explain that is if the winged car (like mine) has LEDs for the center brake light, not bulbs. Is this true, or is there an error in my documentation (or my thinking)?

They are small incandescent bulbs. Remember, this was 1990.

Thanks, so it's probably 5W per small incandescent bulb. I'm thinking of installing a center rear brake light flasher, so perhaps the best approach would be to pry the bulb holder free of the lens assembly and replace the three bulbs with like-socket LEDs.

No, you remove two screws and pull it out, you dont pry. If i remember correctly they are 168 bulbs which are the same socket as 192's, but bigger elements. You can drop LED bulbs right in and i suggest this company. No its not mine.

Well, I've removed the two screws and pulled the lamp assembly free of the wing, but the gray plastic molding that houses the three bulbs doesn't release too easily from the lens assembly, and unlike the other vehicle bulb connectors, they don't release individually from behind, hence my use of the word "pry". That gray triple bulb housing shows no interest in releasing from the lens assembly :(!

Thanks for the inputs guys :)! I've removed the bulbs and ordered three red 5050SMT LED wedges and a brake flasher. I'm expecting them to at least approximate the OE bulbs in brightness, but I guess I won't know for sure until I try them. Here's hoping !

I thought you meant before removing it from the car LOL :)

Im going to be making a smoked lens for mine from acrylic as i have a laser cutter, if the response is positive i might sell them.

I tinted my left-right brake light housings on my xB2 (also installed a center flasher) and they look decent. The flasher is purely for road safety (not getting rear-ended). It's a lot more convenient than pumping the brakes and since the xB2 flasher seems to communicate, I decided to do the same with the Eclipse. I'll let you know how it works out :)!

The LED wedges arrived today and look perfect to me, excellent brightness match with the left/right.

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for the flasher, guess the vender took a couple days to ship it despite it being priority mail -- both orders from California.

Decided on a different flasher from a different vendor, same one I installed in the xB2. It arrived Wednesday and I completed the install today -- works great :rocks:!
