Whats the widest we 1G guys can go?
That's funny. I have 215's on my daily. 15x5.5" wheels.
Tire or rim really, I'm trying to get as much rubber on the road as possible. This car is currently being transformed in order to start road racing. I actually no nothing about the best setup for this type of racing so there will be a steep learning curve.
Not a myth, I run 255/35s on 18x9.5 wheels. A bit of rolling and such, but no major modifications.
265/30/19 on a 19" x 10.5" Volk GT-7 Pulled, and rolled in the rear w/ 2" drop
This thread is about setting up a road-racing car, not some show-and-shine car. Please, let's keep 19s out of here, even if either or both the wheel and tire are 10" wide.
I'm running a 245-45-17 on a +40 17x8 wheel and had to grind down the pinch weld on the control arm and re-weld it so everything would clear. I would say there's probably about 3-4 mm between the tire and the control arm. I wanted to leave a little room to account for sidewall movement during hard cornering. The outside of the tire is flush with the rear quarter panel and the fronts stick out beyond the fender every so slightly. The tires are Dunlop Direzza DZ101's.
EDIT: Front fenders are rolled slightly so the lip doesn't rub and cut into the outer part of the tread during hard bumps or very hard cornering.
How low is your suspension and what spring rates do you run? Camber specs? Seems like most with 255's have a higher ride height to keep from rubbing. Just curious because your setup looks really good.
