2G Wide tire

I have ordered a set of fender flares for my 95 gsx I'm curious if anyone on here knows the widest rim I can go? I'm wanting a nice aggressive look and functional as it will be used for auto cross once in a while. I've heard of a guy running 18x14 -36 wheel but it just seems to big.

I'm going 285/30/18 for next year. 18x9.5 +25 offset. I haven't ordered the flares just yet. I plan on cutting the front fenders, but just setting the rear ride height up a bit so the tires don't make contact. Stiff suspension should help prevent that.
