Is SAFCII Worth It?

I was reading up on the SAFCII and was wondering if it was worth getting? I understand it allows fuel to air ratio control which can help in controlling knock and not hitting fuel cut as easily...(until really high boost at least) but what features does other devices have like DSMlink have that outweigh it...other features that is? I am looking at getting a used SAFCII and datalogger setup for 300 dollars which is IMO a pretty good deal. If i dont plan on goin any faster than mid to high 13's and no bigger turbo than the EVO3, but probably just a 14b, am i gonna be alright and get a lot out of my SAFC and logger with this setup?
 
An SAFC II and logger are a great starting tool for tuning your DSM. I am still running this set-up right now in my lowly low 12s Talon. Very easy to learn and work with and nice and cheap to boot.

DSMlink does give you better logging capabilities and the ability to change fuel and timing SEPERATLY as well as some other nice toys (stutterbox,antilag,raised rev limiter) but for the begginer I think an AFC is fine and a great stepping stool to more in depth tuning. Hell I went 12.4 on my 5 knob AFC and no logger.

It's a good idea to run wideband with both SAFC and DSMLink. Honestly, I think it depends on your goals. If you are wanting to run larger than 680cc injectors, I wouldn't bother with the SAFC, go straight for DSMLink. Actually, I personally would choose DSMLink no matter what injectors I planned on getting. My 2 pennies. G/L whatever you do.

An AFC is a great investment and will get you well into the 13's but if you have the money and want a better tuning device the DSMLink is a better option. However, the AFC will do you just fine and is cheaper by at least $300. Like mentioned above don't go above 650cc injectors but just my .02 I wouldn't go above 550cc but 550cc will get you to where you want to be with supporting mods and a good tune very easily. Also a logger is needed but it looks like you already have plans for that, a wideband is not needed but recommended for a better tune, but I do not do much of the tuning on the street any way I usually do it on a dyno so i can get HP#, TQ# and AF-ratio's and all that there to to check what my logger says. But, good luck with whatever you buy and enjoy tunning.
 
I agree with all them that the SAFC/logger would be a good setup for you but if you want the best out of your car no madder size of turbo I would recommend DSMlink. Everyone says they dont want to go bigger but when you max out that turbo your going to want to get more on day. So I would reccomend DSMlink for stock, mildly modded, or highly modded cars.
