Hey guys I just installed my MBC and I was wondering if the lines are plugged in the right way. On the mbc next to the large arrow there is a label that says "arrow faces waste gate actuator". So I put the hose coming from the turbo the other end where there is no arrow and then I put a line from the arrow side and connected it to my waste gate.

The reason why im asking is because I turned it all the way down to the lowest possible click and turned it up 4 clicks and went to work and while driving I still only hit my waste gate 6lb usual. So ill turn it up more and see what happens but I just wanted to make sure it was put on the right way.

If you are hellbent on using that particular controller with no tee, flip the two lines in your original picture. Unscrewing the dial would let the WG see more pressure and tightening will do opposite. You should eventually find a spot, probably a small adjustment range. I really hope you have a boost gauge for this!

*Okay just found some stuff out, hopefully someone will back me on this.

If that "boost dial" is put in series as a means to control the boost level (like your picture), it will not work as intended. Basically all your doing with that is letting less pressure signal in, YES -but nonetheless, the actuator (WG) will always see SOME pressure as opposed to the ball and spring being a check valve until air pressure overcomes the spring pressure. Meaning your WG will start to open long before target boost, and wasting exhaust energy that could be used to keep the turbo spooling. It would result in more time to reach target boost.

You can do it like this, very cheap and efficient, it's the DIY ball and spring @ roughly $12.

ok I used a tee connector like the above diagram and I turned it up about 30 clicks from 0 and all I saw was a spike to 9psi from my usual 6 at the top of 3rd gear:|

Heres a pic of my current setup

Your still getting a full boost signal to the WG actuator with that setup. If you see the diagram again there is a ball and spring inside the tee that your missing. You could use that dial in series like a hallman style mbc but not very well, read #26 to know what I mean.

so like in my original pic, I should flip the hoses around and turn the boost all the way up and make my way down until I find the right amount of boost? I have a wideband and boost gauge to monitor.

I was looking at the homemade one but idk if I will be able to do it so perfectly like that LOL. Im just waiting for my next paycheck on thurs so ill buy a real one. But just for time being I want to see how I can make this work.

haha i hear you on the home made one. Can you take apart the MBC dial? Just to see how it works exactly to make sure there's no way it could accidently block all the signal. I'm almost positive what that does is make a passageway smaller or bigger depending on which way you turn the dial.

But yeah like in your original post pictures, just flip the hoses and put in series. Like the hallman, one hose from compressor (or any part of charged system before throttle plate) then to the MBC, then from other MBC port out to the WG actuator. If you do take it apart, you should post some pics of the internals, so everyone could see. I couldn't find a pic of the internals despite how popular they are

I have 4 or 5 of those laying in my scrap metal pile. For your car and wallets sake, junk it and buy a hallman mbc or equivalent. Is your engine worth the $50 savings?

This ^^^ :thumb:

I tossed out two of those style mbc's just recently. They're junk. Im guessing the quality has lapsed even more on chinabay stuff, because i had one work in the past. But 1 of 3...

Buy a hallman and be done with it.

He's getting a new one after paycheck chill out :p. Hopefully we get pics of the one he has, since everyone and their relative has seen these by the dozen but not how they work inside. Although, I assume it just adjusts a passageway smaller or bigger to change the bleed rate.

yea man I will buy a hallman one or maybe even just shell out a bit more and get a electronic one

Yep until thurs this will be here LOL. Once the new one comes in ill send it to one of you guys so you can tear it apart and see how it works :D I would probably end up breaking it

anyone have any suggestions for buying an electronic one? the pros and cons of it? or would a regular hallman mbc do just fine.

A hallman mbc will work just fine. If you wanna adjust boost on the fly, get a cockpit adjustable hallman pro.

IMO electronic stand alone BC's are not worth the hassle, electronic boost control is nice but I'd only do electronic if you already have an engine management system that has the option for boost control.

But like 92awddsm said you can get the hallman for inside car adjustment, it uses a mechanical cable to adjust the MBC from inside the car. Pretty nice & cheaper

Someone else should recommend one though, I know it's cool you can have 2 presets to choose from...

Ok so after u hook up the bc what do you with the two hoses that ran to the wg n intake? Just leave them there hanging?
