edmonton,
I just recently removed the engine from my last car (90 tsi) The car was in a front end collision, the engine shifted slightly and a portion of the inner fender hit the crankshaft pully, causing afew chunks to come off the pully.

So I remove the lower timing belt cover after removing the damaged crankshaft pully and I inserted a rachet into the crankshaft to rotate the crank.

I can make around 1 rotation forward or backward but it instantly stops, so should I be able to turn it around and around?

Wait is the car in or out of the car?

If it is in, check to see if the trans is not in a gear

if it is out--it shuold be able to spin freely...

I think it is actually in gear, could that be what is casing the rotation of the crank to suddenly stop?, its late now but ill check tomorrow.

haha mike, it to me asec to decipher that one

I do realize that, I just figured since my crank pully was hit, that the pistons were hitting the valves.

Ill give it try tomorrow to see if it is indeed ingear
