OKAY, HERE'S THE DEAL. WHEN I WAS PULLING UP TO A RED LIGHT ON SATURDAY AND STEPPED ON THE CLUTCH TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, I FELT A CLICK ON THE PEDAL. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PUT IT IN GEAR AND STEPPED ON THE GAS BUT MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD, I THEN PUT IT IN REVERSE TO BACK-UP AND IT STILL WON'T MOVE. NOW WHEN MY CAR IS OFF OR ON, YOU CAN SHIFT GEARS WITHOUT APPLYING THE CLUTCH BUT THE CAR WON'T MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD, MY CLUTCH PEDAL IS LOWER THAN NORMAL. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG WITH MY CAR?

Either your master or slave isn't letting the pressure off the fork or the more likely scenario is that your clutch disk is completely shot.

It sounds like something crazy. Let me see if I've got this straight. When the car is on and idling, can you (without pushing the clutch) put it into gear? If so, can you put it into any gear? Get back to us.

i know ur thoughout bearing is good cuz mine went 5 pieaces bad on me. gave me like a mushy pedal. You could possibly have a bad clutch but i wont think thats the case. check under ur dash where the rod for the clutch pedal goes into the fire wall see if you have fluid on that. If so then your master cyl is leaking. I think u might have gotten air in the system some how. Also check your slave cyl to see if it looks funny or is stuck in the out position. That shouldnt happen but u never know.

Besides the lovely all effing caps post, yet again we're washed up on a beach like so much flotsam and no idea how we got here.

Type of clutch? Age of parts? Person responsible for last work?

From here, my horseshoe is hurtling toward a broken clutch fork.

yes when my car is idling or off, i can (without the clutch) shift all gears including reverse.

That's crazy man. Does it make any crazy sounds when you try to push the clutch when the engine is running? I ask b/c the engine is definately not able to connect to the transmission and the fact the it felt like your broke somthing and the way that the pedal is lower than normal, leads me to believe that you possibly broke a clutch disk or a prssure plate.

it actually does not make any crazy sounds. I took it to a transmission shop in my area and had them take a look at it and they said that my clutch pretty much went out and that it'll cost $729.44 to fix (parts included).

My horseshoe was on that same flight until he said he could shift into gears while the car is running.

I'm not expert, but I have had my share of clutch problems, and from what I know, a clutch simply going bad would not let it shift into gears while idling. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, which I very well could be. I am also guessing the snap you heard/felt was the fork breaking. It going into gear without grinding baffles me. Maybe your throwout bearing actually broke, and a piece of it got lodged in a place that is not letting the clutch plate release, which is basically like the clutch always being engaged? That would explain it going into gear and not moving when you rev it. So I guess my ultimate assumption would be that your throwout bearing and fork are both shot, and possibly your clutch plate as well. Let us know what you figure out.

The Mechanic I Went To Changed The Clutch And I Picked My Car Up Yesterday. It Drives Normal Except For The Fact That The Clutch Feels So Smooth/soft, Is That Normal After Changing A Clutch? Also sometimes When Shifting In My New Clutch, My Gears Grind Sligthly, Any Ideas Why?
