Is it worth running NO cat?

I am just wondering if it is worth smelling like crap, to gain a little bit of power. Also I don't know how much louder it is, could anyone please let me know. I would like to take it out, but I'm not sure if its worth it. And is there anything special you have to do to run without it, like sensors or any of that crap. Just wondering the pros and cons

Thanks for the help:dsm:

Look on ebay. I bought a 3" cat for $45 shipped to my door. I run the same one on my Formula and have no problems with it.

what does it smell like w/o a cat? I run a testpipe and I havent notice a difference in smell, never really paid attention to that. but now that I think about it, every now and then I get a little scent like i'm running rich, is that it?
I know smells are hard to explain over the internet :D

i was lookin under my car today, and noticed theres a sensor after the cat.. then i also saw the other sensor on the o2 housing... now the question is.. if i remove my cat and run a test pipe, would the sensor after the cat read somethin different that it would with a cat and send that to the ecu and mess with the a/f mixture?

i asked around.. and heard that the second one after the cat just sends an message to the ECU to light up the check engine light on.. the code comes up as that the cat isn't working... so i guess the second sensor, the one after the cat, doesn't mess with the A/F mixture or anythin.. but then if your sensor on the o2 housin getin damaged or whatever.. then that'll mess shit up.. LOL but yeah.. thats what i heard.. sounds pretty accurate but not totally sure.. please correct me if im wrong.. thanks

If you're not going to get tested while driving get a test pipe and a pocketlogger or DSMlink then you can edit out the Check Engine light code if it comes up. The second sensor has nothing to do with your A/F ratio. Plus if you're modded you should be adjusting your A/F anyhow and will eliminate the overly rich smells (if you've got them) at idle.

i dropped my cat-back and ran an open d/p for about a week, it was quiet loud, but i could feel the difference. you hear the turbo spooling and dis-spooling.. but i got a lot of looks from cops.. everytime i saw one i had to drop it into neutral LOL.. oh well, im currently tryin to get a test pipe at this local shop, but they say its illegal to make them.. so whatever.. i'll probably just end up ordering one from the internet. i also was thinking about a cut out y-pipe kinda thing...i don't know if they have a name or not. but just have a butterfly on the pipe and you can run open d/p or flick the switch and run through the cat

tell them the car it's goin on is for track only.. (maybe they will buy into it?)

Hell yes it is worth it. A good catback atracts attention, it sounds very nice, and you can notice a little more power after you bolt it on

No cat is obviosly best for least restriction, but for those of us (like me) who have emissions every year the best route is a 3-inch high-flow cat.

What about a full 3"inch turbo-back pipe??? anyone have it?? smells?? gains?? sounds?? likes and dont's???

i'm worried about the sensors, is there anything I can do to not get the check engine light on???
thanks.
