IS it my starter?

i was putting my egr back in casue i've been stalling,reving high so i put it back and my car wont start wtf i put everything back maybe my starter just went... when i turn the key i hear a click noise like a relay somehwere in the engine by the belts , so is it the starter???, easy to install?

Sounds like the Battery to me , try jumping it...if that doesn't work charge/replace the battery...my parts car did the same thing...got it started with a fresh "er" battery.

Definitely start with the battery because it's a very simple and easy thing to test/replace. If that doesn't work, you can pull off the starter and test it. Consult your Chilton's or Haynes on how to do it. If that's not it either, then obviously you have other problems.

Assuming you have full voltage, it's your starter.

Try pushing car down hill and popping the clutch out quickly while in gear. If it starts up like that, then your starter is bad.

Surely check the fuses, battery, etc. All the easy stuff first. The starter wiring could be disconnected (happened to me) or your ECU could be bad, try resetting it.

Are you getting a CEL?

I have this problem about 3 or 4 times a week. I'm not sure if this will help you, but in my case I think it is a loose wire in the ignition or something similar. If I try to start it over and over really quick it will start right up in about 4 or 5 turns. If you have an alarm with starter kill it could be a loose wire on that too.

The starter doesn't have a fuse. All it has is a solenoid. If the solenoid clicks, then it works. If the car has full voltage, and doesn't crank when you turn the key, but it clicks, then it has to be your starter. Unless of course you modified the wiring.

its the BATTERY, i jumped started it then turned it off and doesnt start so yup it was the damm battery must be all those underglows neons ect...

If you can, get ahold of a Battery diagnostic tester. How many times have you had to fully recover your battery? If you've charged it from next to nothing more than four times or so, chances are it's bad and the lead plates wont hold electrons worth crap. Your static voltage should be at least 12.6V and your dynamic voltage 9.4V approx. You should probably check for a parasidic draw across your fuses with a DVOM cause your battery shouldn't be dropping voltage.

shit!!! it wasnt the battery i bought a new one installed it volt guage said 12.. lights ,radio ect work, what could it be. maybe i have to jump it casue its a new battery

ok more news new battery installed and it doesnt start have full voltage 12-14 lights ect work so it must the starter right? is it easy to chnage?

Eh, not really. It's not hard to take it out but to get to the bolts holding it in is a complete PITA. I'd suggest taking out the battery and the little tray it sits on and you'll probably have a good angle at it.

but the ? is how long will it last i am selling my car and dont wanna #### someone??
