Is it safe to paint starter plate ?

Hey guys,

I know it might sound stupid but is it safe to paint the starter plate ? You know the plate between the block and tranny ... Does it act like a ground ? Can I powder coat or paint it ?

From what I remember there's a ground for the starter in the harness ...

Weren't they painted black from the factory? Or maybe the previous owner painted the one on my car. Either way mine is painted and I've had no adverse effects.

You will be fine. The starter bolts will still be able to ground the starter to the engine.

the plate is fine to paint... the thing to watch for is if the trans is coated with paint as well as if the block is layered in paint and causes a week ground.

but normally when you tighten your bolts down the paint get scratched off ...
