It seems like lately my starter is acting really funny. I turn the key and I can hear it spin very very slow for a couple seconds then go very fast and start my car, lately its getting worse and worse. Its turning the motor slower for a longer amount of time then speeds up and starts the car. My battery and tested fine at 12.6v with car off and 13.5 at idle. Is my starter on its way out?

load check your battery
unplug coils crank engine and see what your voltage drops to then below 8-9
you need a new battery
also check its charging when its running
you might want to do this on a hill.

I went to the auto store and had a load tester put on, battery checks out and alternator is charging great. I did however notice when I started it cold this morning is spun the starter like normal and fired right up, but after warming the engine to normal operating temps and trying to restart it would do the slow start again. Seems like the more I run the engine hot that day the starter will spin slower for a longer amount of time. Im changing the starter out with a spare once the motor cools, hopefully this fixes the problem
