for a while now i've been hearing a sort of worn bearing sound, sort of like an idler pully is going bad, but it's limited to startup, after i drive it for a while its fine, and it only seems to do it when i'm building boost, so this has me kinda worried about my t25, and as far as i know its been on the car since it was new, could my turbo not be getting sufficient oil at startup to cause this, or is it just a pulley somewhere, it only does it while driving right after start up, it being warm or not doesn't seem to matter. i'm planning on putting a 16g on it, but i need to work on some of the supporting mods first, don't want to prematurely by something i don't really need yet.

I hate to tell you but soundslike journal bearings in your turbo like you thought but you also might want to check water pump for play by removing belt and trying to move back and forth also if your car is a manual might be throw out bearing you should have someone start your car and give alittle throttle while hood is open and try to find what side it is coming from also if it is throw out it should go away when you press in clutch...hope this helps...
sweet well i can try and eliminate one possibility tomorrow, the throwout bearing will be the easiest to test. that might be what it is, i can rev it and i don't hear it, its only when i'm driving and the clutch is engaged

Take the intake tube off your turbo and grab ahold of the shaft to check for play on your turbo.

if it has play would that explain the scratchy bearing sound?
btw just thought i'd throw a whats up to a brother in blue, go air force.LOL.
i'm down here at LRAFB

If you hear a scratchy kind of grindy-like noise then most likely your turbo is or is on its way out. The wheel is likely to be hitting on the walls therefore creating the grinding noise. Check for shaft play and that should tell you. I am currently in the middle of a turbo swap and my turbo was gone due to oil starvation on the turbo not being lubricated thus in turn resulting in a major seize.

yea but wouldn't it do it all the time if the turbo was going out, not just while driving shortly after start up?

All cases are different. When i drove my car home the day i bought it and also the following weeks around the block, the turbo never made a noise while driving, at idle sometimes i would hear the wheel scratch and also during start-up real hard.
