WEll everyone...i've come down to my final decision......1g motor swap into a 2g GSX, Forrester racing head w/1mm oversized ferrea valves, springs, (full head work), 2.3L Stroker kit, GT35R Ball Bearing Turbo, AEM EMS, Driveshaftshop.com front and rear axles, AMS 780cc injectors, Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump, AMS 3" Turbo-back exhaust w/Thermal cat-back, etc etc etc...all and all AMS is going to be dyno tuning my car and they said I will be getting about 500whp on high boost on 110 octane, and about 310HP on low boost93 octane chitown gas. Do you thing this is too much??? The other thinkg I am thinking about is getting an Evo 8......but I love my Eclipse so much...but an evo wold be fun too...HEEEEEEELP!!!

less than 2000 miles on the chasis? whats wrong with it then? That sounds AWFULLY low for all those mods. What year is the civic?

I personally would not get the civic. Honda Motors blow up more than Mitsubishi Motors do. I know of two people that are on their 3rd honda motor, of course this is probably caused by user stupidity but still.

yea...as much as I would love to keep my DSM, theres too many problems with my car...not major just minor stuff...I think imma get the Si. Paranoid...like I said before...its a 2000 civic Si w/all that stuff done to it. I know the guy and he's giving me A LOT of $$$ off of the car. He WAS going to ask 30 or 35k for the car but he needs to finish paying off his 3 credit cards, and 2 bank loans he used to buy all the parts of the car LOL. But, i'm worried about traction against GSX's LOL...oh well...its aight...yea im also gonna put some dough into my R6 as well...full exhaust, intake, Power Commnder, and an air shifter. Thats about it probably.

Kenny :dsm:

i would have 600 hp if i could and drive my car every day. so what about gas its not like you going to be running 28psi all the tiem driving around. most of the time you will be driving on vac so who cares. if you are a boost crazy then just turn it down to like 15 psi and call it a day. i dont know why people say u cant do it.

You should PM dsmtrance about his setup. The last dyno sheet from his car was 481whp... and that's front wheel drive.

Just as long as you don't mind paying for gas, it's not too bad once you get used to it.

Thats one sweet civic considering most civics you see are POS. I dont think I could trade my TSi AWD for a FWD though, I love the launch. Plus, Ive heard its possible to make like 300+ hp on a mostly stock DSM, which is amazing(correct me if im wrong). I dont know what a R6 looks like but I personally like the GXS-R 700 :thumb: . But its totally up to you, sounds great to me :talon:

why does everyone talk about gas, we have a 4 banger and as long as you dont boost your realy not burning that much gas unless you suck at tunning

not makin 300 hp stock on this dsm....hell im not even making half that :(

they are still high performance 4 bangers built for high horsepower. Even if you don't boost all tye time your still going to get much worse gas mileage than lets say and escort or a cavalier.

well of course a escort or a cavalier would get more gas millage that is two completly diffrent type of cars.

Tuuuurrrrbboooo :D

25psi on a honda motor? kaboom?

I'd stick with the eclipse, they look cooler anyways, GSX launches like crazy, and DSM's are fun to mod, and they get the girls :thumb:

Whats the fun in buying a civic thats already built up (prolly to the max). Im not saying i wouldnt take one, its just more fun to make the car faster so u feel the improvements in each of the upgrades, and learn a lot on the way.

GSX :thumb: (even tho im GS-T :thumbdown ...... mostly stock :shhh: )

Anybody that knows me knows that I drive my car every day and I put down some really sick HP on race gas. Its all how you drive it and set it up.

Horsepower level is not directly related to how fun a car is to drive. You can have a 400-500 whp that drives fine, and a 300 whp car that is a total chore.

It's all about how you build it.

That is the true answer.

yea well...heres what the civic's got to offer:

Brembo Big Brake 12" Rear Brake Kit

I think I might have forgotten some small parts but thats about 97% of the list. On low boost the car runs at 9psi making about 260WHP on Chicago BP 93 Octane. On High Boost 110 octane Race Gas it makes 450WHP on only 20psi!!! If I get this car I'm going to get drive shafts, Sparco 5-pt. harnesses for passanger and driver. Also, I would get another Dyno Tuning from Sound Performance and raise the boost up to 25PSI and make nearly 500WHP. The car runs 12.2's on low boost and 11.6's on high boost on street tires. Also, I would buy some GS-R Wheels and put some all out slicks on the front. I think I'll have to get a roll cage too...oh well its worth it. I have pics, dyno charts, and video's of the car as well. The car itself has 200miles on new motor and less than 2000 on the chassis.

Kenny

sheesh...!!! even tho people talk bad about hondas... i gotta say this is a nice setup...!!!! almost like mine minus the stage 4 head and like 6 things

I Say go for it... there's no such thing as having too much horsepower ;) plus it's an awd! it will be one hell of a fun street car!

I would keep the Talon and buy a second car that gets good gas mileage. Sure, you could tne it to get good gas mileage. The problem people seem to be overlooking is the strain put on the components of daily driving. High power takes a toll on the bearings in your driveline for starters. AWD drivelines take a tremendous beating. There is a reason why most people that are making gobs of power have a daily driver and do not use their project car as that daily driver. The stress put on each component in normal everyday motors is high and that only gets magnified when you start mods. Even with a built motor, driveline, etc. you still have a greater risk of breaking stuff than on a stock motor.
