fist let me start off by saying hi to everyone, i have been kinda trolling around reading alot and trying to figure some things out on my own. well now i'm at the point that i figure i'll just ask some questions and hope i don't get flamed too bad. I have read alot on site so i have used the search function :D so my set up is a big 16, gm maf, maf translator, 750cc injectors, 190 fuel pump, running right at 20 psi of boost. now my question is, i have a s-afc but haven't installed it yet because i have read that anything over 650 injectors the s-afc isn't useful anymore true or not? next i know your going to say get a wideband and i'm in the process of that. just wondering how i should go about tuning now.

Welcome bro! Get ECMlink or flashable black box ecu. What you've heard about the safc is true and even with 650 injectors its pushing it's limits. Just save the hassle bro save up alittle and get something to tune with like link and never have to worry about it again. Link guys even sell a maf cable to get rid of that translator and make it easier to use with link. Other things yes if you wanna start timing get a good wideband and possible a 3bar map sensor to log boost, helps a lot with tuning.

IMO 680cc injectors are the largest injectors one should go with SAFC and be on the safe side. Anything bigger I wouldn't recommend it, unless you really know what you're doing. I would sell/trade your 750s for smaller injectors or sell your safc & upgrade to ECMLink. Props on knowing to get a WB, too.

is there a particular wideband out there that people prefer?

the ecmlink looks to be the way i'm thinking about going but if i read correct then i need to have a ecu thats socketed correct? and if not the i have to buy the ecmlink and have my ecu sent of to be socketed correct?

I like the AEM Uego.

Correct only if your ECU is an Eprom. If it's not, just browse thru the classifieds for a 1g Ecmlink ECU (that's already socketed) so you can swap out and start tuning.

I use a AEM UEGO as well. I like it, but it logs a bit off (usually +/- .1) which isn't a huge deal, but slightly annoying if your a perfectionist. Innovative is also a great company for widebands, many people stick by them.

You are correct that ECMLink needs to be in a socketed ECU. EPROM ECU's cost around 40 for the socket job while Non-EPROM needs to be converted to EPROM and then socketed which is a bit more pricey. But with the price of EPROM ECU's, I'd socket whatever is in your car right now. EPROM or not.

On these cars were the eprom ecu just kinda here and there or were there specific years they were in them.

I also use the AEM UEGO.... but as Wes said, the readings tend to be a hair off in ECMlink. You can mess around with the different AEM options in Link and usually come up with one that will read the sensor pretty close. Other than this, it has worked great for a while now.

I was reading about the mtxl last night after y'all posted about it and it seems like that might be the way I go.

You guys are misunderstanding the OP. If he is running a MAF translator, he can use that to compensate for the injectors, and leave the SAFC for fine tuning, allowing him to run much larger than a 650cc. The correct way, however, would be to run ECMlink rather than a dual piggyback which is what the OP is proposing to do. He has no reason to sell his current injectors.

LOL so now your saying i could technically still run the safc since i have the maft, but i would be better off with ECMlink? how much difference is there in the ecmlink and the safc? what all is different tunable wise?
