I have a 16g on my car and am installing a 38mm external wastegate tomorrow off of the o2 housing. I just need to know if I need weld the flapper open or closed. Im pretty sure open, just want to make sure. Or, would it be possible to just remove the whole internal setup from the turbo itself?

You need to remove the flapper and port the hole on turbine housing for external wastegate off of O2 housing. You would weld it shut if you were running off of the manifold

Ya im pretty positive it doesnt need to be ported and i think u weld it shut if ive done the right research

First off any mitsubishi turbine housing can benefit from radiusing of the wastegate entry. If you're running a 38mm external wastegate, you dont want a 20mm hole flowing to it controlling your boost. If you want the setup to work effectively, you will port the outlet a decent amount. It's not my car, so I could care less what you do with it
