Ok, I have an hks standard 40mm wastegate mounted on the manifold. I was planning and am still planning on running my 20G which I was going to use the external gate for. But currently im running the 14b with the internal gate. When I hit boost the flap on the external gate is opening....so I tried running a vaccum line to the top nipple and it is holding it close. But the hoses keep busting a hole right @ the nipple of the wastegate. I know I can remove the wastegate and thats going to be alot of peoples first thoughts. But I dont want to have to shave of the lip off of the mounting piece for the wg, but I am going to have to use it soon when I put the 20g on. And another thought I had was to block of the dump of the wg, but that wouldnt really be fixing the problem. Any suggestions?? such as should I try and hook it up through my ebc as well as the internal gate? I was trying to find out exactly how the external gate works, but I keep finding basic connection and rebuild info.

I wanted to leave it running on the internal gate for now. Im trying to get the external to stay shut....

I know the top nipple on the gate is the one that the ebc uses to control @ what pressure the wg opens, but exactly how does the bottom port on the wg come into play. I know it connects on the same line as the reference point on the turbo and the ebc...But what is going on in there? I thought that if I placed the a line on the top it would stop it from opening...which it is. But the lines keep poping right at the nipple....my next bet was splitting the line going from the ebc to the internal gate and sending it to the external also.

The plate at the bottom with the lip on it is welded to the mani.

I can't believe no one answered this already. Take the nipples off, both of them. Buy a higher spring than what you run. For example, i run 10 psi. My spring inside my tial 38 is a 7 psi spring. So, if i dont have any line hooked up from the BC, it will open at 7 psi, NO MATTER WHAT. Once the spring can't hold anymore pressure it opens. The nipple and line from the BC acts as a pressure barrier. if its not there, it opens when the turbo is overcoming the psi the spring is rated for. I digress, whatever your psi you are running, buy at least 1.25x that. Because it will still open because thats the nature of the wastegate. Not much, but a little. So if you run 10psi. Get a 15 or 20 psi spring for it, or even higher to prevent it from opening.
