Intermittent starting problem

I've been having an intermittent staring problem for a very long time, 2-3 years. I've read through the many threads on the forum and am thinking I have a ground issue, but since I don't have time to get to it right now, I thought some opinions could be very helpful.

Sometimes, when I turn the key:
MPI relay clicks on
Gas pumps turn on
No cranking occurs

Since everything but the starter seems to be working, can I assume the ignition switch is working and that the problem is directly related to the starter itself (the starter has been replaced)? i.e. starter ground or turbo-timer ground?

the starter ground could very well be it, if its not connected to the bolt on the starter properly, it won't crank at all. Maybe check your battery connection as well

I'm definitely planning to check the starter ground again. The battery ground is solid. Any other thoughts on ruling out the ignition switch?

Check the coolant temperature sensor.

This could likely be the issue. I had a very similar problem and replaced the starter solenoid and Coolant temp sensor at the same time. Turns out the starter solenoid i took off tested good after the fact.

Yes the cts could be a problem if it starts now and then but it could be a number of things first I would rule out that and move onto something else.

I just put on a new coolant temp sensor, so when I get the car up and running, hopefully it's all worked out. Thanks guys.
