Well the vinyl paint that i used specifically said not to sand and only to clean.

Just give it a good scrubbing with the S.OS. pad and the soap solution. When im home next week i'll get some pics of the seats bending so you can see it wont crack.

everytime you sit in your car you'll find a new piece you want to paint!

but it is fun and people get in your car and say whoa, this is like neat and stuff. :D

Ha ha... very true. That's why I just decided to fiberglass and paint everything.

As far as actually doing the painting what '96_Talon_TSi said is pretty much right on. Only thing that I would say is I have never painted the actual vinyl but he did it successfully. Instead of painting the vinyl I just fiberglassed all the vinyl parts including the dash.

speaking from experience, i originally did mine in all white and just changed everything ot all black. white was EASY to keep clean, black is much more difficult.

depends on the type of dirt i guess. i smoke so i end up with white ash all over my black seats :(

if ever there was a reason to quit that just might do it!

Has anyone ever painted their cloth door panel?

paint cloth?

or the plastic/vinyl around it?

as for the dirt, i can see what you mean as far as ash on black would show up pretty easy, I was thinking more like fingerprints on white and stuff like that.

its funny, i wanted to start a tread on the exact same topic here. well my question is how would i be able to paint my dash. (the actual dash, the entire thing!) i am not happy with the stock grey interior and want to make it all black. i was originally going to by the stock black panals but its kindda hard to find and quite expensive. any help would be appreciated.

I painted my dash, it was originally grey but not its black.

Remove it from the car, prep and paint the way i mentioned above.

The actual cloth part. It's ugly and faded. I wanted to paint it black. Anyone know if there's anything out there that'll hold?

ok, can anyone tell me how u paint the rear pieces that the seat belts are connected too, well least how to take the pieces out so they can be painted? i dont have a manual and i couldnt figure it out, heres a pic that better shows wut im talkn bout

i took pic from "'96_Talon_TSi" image gallery

the large peice underneath that one comes out first. find all the screws and then it snaps out. then youll find 3 screws on the bottom of the piece with the arrow. then remove the seatbelts and it pops out. i would HIGHLY suggest getting a manual before you start taking your interior apart. otherwise you will end up breaking something and spending some time looking for replacement peices.

its the best 15 bucks youll ever spend.

I am doing this as I type. (not literally)
But I am getting rid of the crappy 1G two tone grey and going black with white trim. Why white? because I have white face guages, and autometer super lights with the white/silver face. I am a stickler for matching things up.

The plastic pieces I am doing with that Fusion paint. Goes on very good. Just wash the part, dust it with the paint, wait a few minutes then a few good light coats.
The vinyl I am using some vinyl paint, but will probley get something else pretty quick because it is not doing too good on the seats.
I am tring to get some vinyl dye in a spray can now. But it is also like 16 a can OMG

I will post up some pics later, in a few days.
OK so I got one up today...
And if it does not show up click this and take a gander

Uh... how about the name "Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric color"

I painted the bottom carpet trim on my 90 and it looks killer.

aight i actually looked at the pic i posted and figure out how to get those pieces off, and another question that was really on my mind which ive seen been discussed on here often is the carpet and fabrics in the car, ok so is it ez to take down and put back up the carpet stuff on the celing/roof of the car, that white lookn stuff, and how/how hard is it to remove and paint the floor carpet, and you say use the Vinly/fabric paint on the carpet stuff, that doesnt glob up and get all sticky or nothin when it dries?

click on that link and look about that fabric paint.

I cannot speak for a 2G but I got the entire interior out of my car in a day and a half taking my time so not to break anything (though I still cracked a few parts  - but some nice plastiweld and it is all good again).

The easiest thing I would do about the carpet, is paint the interior in parts. Start at the rear and move up one side at a time. Then you also remove the seat(s) ion that section to get at the carpet. A quick vacuum and then paint it as well.

But that Duplicolor looks great on carpets. First hand experience talking...

Just TAKE YOUR TIME WITH EVERYTHING, and it will come out great.

I just dont understand why people dont go out and buy the 200 carpet and make it look right instead of half assed painted. Everyone will be able to tell you painted it. People arent stupid. Do it right, cover your interior panels in interior grade vynal, liek leather but not, for that OEM look, paint looks like ass, unless its glassed, then painted, regardless of what people say.

I know that the Dupli-color will work on carpeting, because i sprayed the carpet that is on the sides of the backseat. However, I wouldnt trust it on the floor carpet and on floor mats. I agree with 97gst-spyder on the floor carpet. Painting looks too cheesy on floor carpet due to the fact it will be far too time consuming to get uniform color all around.

And I care what you think for what reason?...
Trust me if I had the 700 to redo the interior I would do it the way you describe, But quess what I DON'T. Hell I do not even have most of the money I need to get the car road worthy, so I am doing little things like this to pass the time.
I only painted the lower trim on the door panel carpet with the duplicolor, a fact that you might have learned had you clicked and looked.

I didnt read this whole mosterous thing. Howeve I noticed people where asking how to "paint" thier seats and cloth.

YOU DON'T PAINT FABRIC. AYE :notgood:

You dye the stuff. I have seen many dye jobs, a good number of people to it to get the color they want (often black in a white car that only comes with a gross tan/cream interior) or to remove a pattern (grey swish marks).

The deal with dying your seats is it has to be in warm dry enviorment and you have to let it sit for at least 24hrs. Other wise you'll get dye all over your self. Never done this my self (no need, sexy black interior Golf). So I can't help you more. Dye jobs last forever and don't "rub off" how do you think your seats got to be grey in the first place? Read up on it. :thumb:
