intercooler piping through holes next to radiator

so i thought of making some custom intercooler piping and i would like all the pipes to be as far away from the exhaust as possible. so after exploring the engine bay, i think i might be able to squeeze both pipes (from the turbo and to the t-body) thought the hole next to radiator.

my core is way smaller than this one. i know the hole is small but im try. anyone ever seen this done, if yes any pics cause i would like to see how they did it. thanks

yeah the ETS and punishment racing kits both are short route, but the turbo pipe runs thought the driver side. thats the side that really hot and i think losses performance cause of that.
 
The new intercooler group buy for 1g's also goes the same way you're thinking about. I can't think of the intercooler brand but MANGINA is his user name. What core is that by the way? and what are the measurements on it?

The intercooler pipe that goes to the turbo is on the driver side and that's the way all intercoolers work. The intake goes through the throttle body and the other end comes out of the turbo.
 
i dont think you guys are understanding me. both the pipes from the turbo and to the throttle body are going to run through the same hole. they are both suppose to fit through the one hole in the passengers side, that most short route kits run. now there might be a problem running 2 2.5 pipes thought there, but as long as the pipe going to the engine is shorter youll get the most effectiveness out of you core. im just trying to eliminate all the heat coming from the exhaust manifold, o2 housing and downpipe.
 
VR-Speed from MaNGiNa, thers a group buy right now. It's like $100 for the full kit, jk, it was definitely cheaper than all the others.

Agreed. This kit is affordable and nicely designed. If you have a big concern on temps for the small pipe that will run through the driver side just heat wrap it really good. Regardless in the end the fmic will cool whatever hot air went through that pipe, no biggie.
 
I had that intercooler that you have there and I ran it the normal way with 1 pipe going through each side of the radiator and the turbo side of the intercooler was always warm and the intake side was always cold, the intercooler does it's job even with the heat coming from the manifold and other exhaust parts. This was without the pipes wrapped too.

It would be better the run the pipes from each end of the core. The passenger's side the intake and the driver side the from the turbo. That way the hot air coming from the turbo doesn't dissipated heat to the intake. Plus having it on the driver side just doesn't matter about the heat dissipating from the downpipe because it's going to go out anyways through the intercooler.

And true, having the shortest intercooler piping will increase airflow speed, but it's not exactly noticeable, but it's not just to the intake side. Both sides need to be as short as possible.
