Intercooler core help?

What size intercooler core would support a 400hp goal. I wanna make my own piping an do this myself. Heres a few dimensions i have found. I only want bar an plate.


28x9x2.75


27x6x2.5

28x5.5x2.5

Any ideas?

just for an idea the evo 9 intercooler supports up to 400whp.

I'm hoping to use mine up to about 350whp and it's 29"x8"x3.5"

The seller I bought it from says it's good for 400-500hp, but I doubt it would be good for that far.

Yea I hate you 2g guys... have cheap Ebay core kits...

It saves a headache from having to "piece" together a kit.

Yeah but i would prefer putting a kit together, im just not sold on the vrspeed kit an i like the routing of it over p r. I am running 6bolt swap with first gen pistons so im very particular about a front mount, im in a lot of confusion, currently i have long route piping and a 28x12x3 tube an fin core. An i swapped in a 30x6x2.5 core an it was like night an day i was so happy with the spool an spool between gears. Both vrspeed an p r have large cores and i wanna run something more like a 28x7 an change my piping up but i just have not seen much input on vrspeeds lag with first gen engines.

It has been used on cars in the 11's and 10's I believe. There was a thread where people posted up their track results on the SSAC core, but I can't seem to find it right now.

Alright thanks a lot. I think i will go smaller cause im on a 16g an i doubt ill get into the 11s on that but thank you for the input.
