I know this thread is real old but I can't start a new one. I forgot my UN and PW for my old tuners account so I can't post now :(. I started doing some more research on the setup I want/goals for my future DSM. A couple of the mods I want to run are a 3" blow through with a MAFT and VRSF fmic kit (1g)...eventually a 20g and supporting mods but I need help choosing an intake pipe! I honestly don't know why some have nipples (aside from recirculating) and some don't.

It doesn't matter which one you choose. If it has a port in it to pipe to the valve cover then use a hose if it doesn't have a port buy one of those small filters for the port on the valve cover. Some people like those, personally I don't. There are some people who will argue one way or the other but IMO it doesn't matter too much. However, this will all be irrelevant once you go turbo. Most run a straight pipe off the compressor about one foot in length and you cant have a "nipple" in it.

Thank you for the informative reply.

Where am I supposed to post for my first 30/30? It says you can't start a new thread/post anywhere if "a member who has less than 30 tech posts and has been registered for less than 30 days". I go to Forums->View the Forums->DSM tech. I can't post in there, I thought thats where I'm supposed to post for my 30/30? Or am I wrong?

If you have a 420a you can post in the bolt-tech section in the 420a area. Because you thread jacked off a 420a thread I guessed you had a 420a. Re-reading your post I see that you have a 4g63 so you need to post in this section, the newbie area. Also you might need to update your info so people know what you drive. See how next to my picture it says 96 Eclipse n/t? People can see that and give appropriate advice. If you have a n/t 1g dsm then I believe my advice applies, however, if it is a turbo then it doesn't. Just be sure to update your profile and post in the right area and you will be fine :thumb:

Thanks for the information. I'm going to pick up a 94 TSi tomorrow :D. Rebuilt engine and transmission (5spd), 5k on both. Only problem is both front struts need to be replaced. $2,900!

Thread branched and moved from the 420A forum...

Sorry about the mix up, as you can see I was confused :coy:.

Sounds like a sweet deal, put some pics up for us!

Stupid bank wants 16% on a $4,000 loan and denied me because I technically don't have any credit even though I've made 1/3 of the payments on my current loan all on time. Credit is so aggravating. I'll be going through USAA instead.
