Jeez, after 3 years of a perfect driving record, I won't be able to get the good driver discount of 20% of 200/month I pay. They won't apply the discount until the next premium date, which just happens to be NOVEMBER. Thats 9 freaking months!! Ultimately, I am going to have to pay an extra 360 bucks because of this stupid thing. Anybody have this happen to them? BTW, this is AAA. Another Asshole Accountant is stealing my money!!

You are not under contract with an insurance company. Cancel your policy and find companies that like safe drivers like Geico, Nationwide, Statefarm etc. I pay $140 per month to Geico for full coverage on my Talon and my wife's 05 Hyundai Tucson.

Ya they will probably just charge more Michigan has different rules and as far as insurance goes as well, I just deal with New Jersey, Florida, Virginia, Georgia, New York,Illinois and Pennsylvania.

Okay, well today my mom called our insruance company and asked them how much an eclipse is for insurance. They said it was rated as a 21, or the risk factor of the car is 21 apperantly, but my mom knows nothing about cars and i think she was quoted for a newer, 6 cylender eclipse.

What i was wondering is, is there a price increase from a 95-99 4 cylender to the newer 6 cylender.

Also, for the people that are in my boat, I'm 16 and am wondering who in my general age group pays for insurance under their parents account, for just liability? and how much do you pay monthly?

I really thought i was going to be able to get a dsm, but with my parents freaking out about the price, it probably wont happen. I have the good grade discount, and i even said i would help pay for insurance but they think either way it is a waste of money to be giving away that much more cash for a car.

If i can't find someway around it i'll probably end up with a civic or something

Advice and opinions needed.

Hey, I'm 16 as well, about to turn 17 and I have a 95 GSX with 32k original miles on it and my insurance is about $100 per month. That's with the 6 hours driving behind the wheel, in school drivers ed, good grades discount, it's under my moms name, and multiple car discount. I don't know the EXACT amount per month, for we just get 1 bill for all the cars(3 in the account with Allstate). I have to check with the insurance company. I was in your exact same situation, but insurance really isn't that bad at all. But, I live in suburban Jersey, while you in Wisconsin. So it's obviously going to be alittle different. I pay for EVERYTHING on my car including the car itself ,gas, parts, insurance, etc. so I would be the first to say it's expensive, but it's not that bad at all. Tell your parents it has ABS, dual airbags, etc. That should help with convincing your parents and helps lower insurance costs. I wouldn't sweat it.

So wait, your mom is the primairy on the car or are you?

Because, we are going to have 3 cars and 3 drivers so i will have to be listed as the primairy on it, but it's just going to be liability, good grades, and i didn't know you got a discount for taking drivers ed? that's required to get your lisence...

I really don't spend my money on anything, i have had 500$ from ym birthday just sitting, don't touch it and i dont really use my money from my job anyways so my parents telling me I'm wasting my money is crap.

I don't know i hope i can pull it off.

Just cause you have 3 cars and 3 drivers you dont have to be listed as primary on it. MY mother is listed as the primary on boths of our 2 cars and me as secondary on my car. I think we told them I put less than 5,000 miles a year on it. Also put a 500 dollar deductible, make sure to tell them you have an aftermarket security system, and awd, and abs. This together made my insurance 12 dollars cheaper every 6 months compared to my gs. Now mine is lowering by about 50-100 dollars every 6 months. I am 19 now and my insurance is 1050 a year comprehensive for a 98 gsx with 69k miles. I have a perfect record, no car accidents and no tickets. Also if you have good credit (or your parents) then you can get a good credit discount. Also for 120 take a driver education class, and put it as voluntary and insurance will lower your rates even more.

Doinmg all this has made my insurance incredibly cheap and also I am not lying to the insurance company so you dont get in trouble when you crash it, and its a when, not an if.

PS- Stay under your parent's as long as possible, my mom has a 32-year clean history and therefore made it very easy for me to pay off my own insurance and to be completely on my own financially. When I Turn 21 I will go on my own insurance plan as insurance will be plenty cheap by then.

I just turned 17, and I'm paying roughly $85/month on my 96 GST with 117k. It's only covered with liability, though, and my mom is listed as the primary driver. The $85/month is the extra over what it was with our 2 other cars before I got the GST and it's what I'm paying for. Just talk with your insurance agent to find out what the cheapest combination of drivers is. Also, make sure that the insurance company lowers the # of miles/year on the other cars because you will be driving the DSM and saving miles on your other cars. Doing just that, reducing the miles/year on our other 2 cars by a combined 8k, saved me almost $200/month on insurance.

Well i did take the drivers ed class through school, does that make a difference? Also, AWD is less then FWD, and an after market alarm system like a viper or compustar also takes money off?

My mom is going to call today to get a quote on a 95-99 GSX and GST and also a 2000 Integra GSR

Well Ben, i'm 17 from central WI, and I only pay $220 for my 95 TSI AWD and ONLY $70 for my 90 TSI AWD. Both have only liability on them. I have no points off my lisence, so I have a good record.

Damn, when I was that age I was paying $850 every 6 months. Of course I had full coverage. But it came in handy when I rear ended a cellphone user.
I guess thats why I wasn't able to afford more mods, oh well.:(

Was that only for a GS?

yes
But the crash cost 4K to fix so I guess I dont need full coverage anymore since the value the insurence company would put into the car would be more than its blue book value. I doubt they could fix a collision for $600. But I wont be crashing anymore. LOL

LIke every other insurance thread there is absolutly no way you can gauge your insurance cost from other people. It won't happen no matter how you spin the question or the details in the question.

Just have your mom call back and let the insurance company know exactly what car you are looking at. Make sure you tell them all the info tyhat is pertinant IE AWD, turbo, and so on. The YOU will be able to see what YOU will pay for insurance.

WMD What is you rname and how old are you? I go to verona highschool.

:| Joe and im 19 so i graduated last year from VAHS.

Oh and my plan was through my mommas plan, and i had the 25% discount for good grades, and the title is in my name, which raises the cost for the youngens.

you get 25% off for good grades? what company you go through?

Also, what's your last name WMD, i might remember the name.

Every insurance company is like that.........as far as I know of. Just bring in your report card and they give you a discount. I dont know about 25%, but they still give you a discount.

I go through state farm and it was 25% because i remember being told that and I was like, "damn".
My friend didnt have it and went through state farm and wound up paying $160 a month just for liability on a volvo. LOL his saab was destroyed in the 60 car pile up on the innerstate outside of east madison a couple of years ago. brings back memories LOL

Oh and my last name is LaMere, dont stal my idenity :nono: , i have a 96 maroon eclipse.

Well i have the same exact car as Apeximprt2nr and i mean the same. Same color, year, model and even the gray trim around the bottom of the car. Im 16 and im under my dads name with allstate. I only pay around 90 Bucks for limited coverage (i dont know what its real name is) but im covered and get my car fixed as long as the crash is less than 50% my fault. That includes deer/theft. I also get the good grades discount but i dont think its 25% in michigan. That should give you an idea. My car is only 15 bucks more for insurance than my 92 Jeep is with the same coverage. Hope this helps:thumb:

i used to pay $127 per month for just liability back in 99' for my 92 tsi fwd. This was under my parents coverage with multi car discount and 2 points on my record. I think it was nationwide.

That happened to me 2 weeks ago:notgood: And they still havent gotten back to me with an estimate. The other person's insurance was supposed to call me a week ago, and I'm still waiting.... I guess thats what you get for having cheap insurance.

Okay well, she called for a 95 GS-T, and it was 1,027 every 6 months.

Which seems like crap... 171 dollars a month.

i know I'm 16 but that seems incredibly high.

is it seriously going to be THAT much though?

another grand a year. right now it's 100$ monthly for just driving my parents cars.
