Insurance [Merged 10-6]

my insurance was, granted on a 93 non turbo, 90/mo., up about 5/mo from the 96 buick i had previously.

I have USAA, and mine is $200 a month. USAA is MUCH cheaper than all the other companies, but a member of your family must be in the Military or previously enlisted. I guess they figure families involved in the military are more responsible...I decided to get full coverage since I park at school, but I do remember my car was in bracket 23/27 for cost to insure (likliness of crashing, and higher chance of seriously injuring the occupants). Makes you feel great, doesn't it?

well i tried to get a quote, they are going to figure it out and email me it. Did it through AAA, my auto insuarnce company. But i didn;t know wtf it ment, medical coverage and stuff like that.

I really only want liability and coverage on my car so if something happens i can get it fixed. Like if randomly a branch from a tree falls on my car or somthing, totally unlikley but i want the coverage.

I don't understand why guys have higher insurance, women are worse drivers :shhh:

I have ANPAC and it's still on my dad's policy. $636/year. Full coverage. Just call around and get quotes. But it will most likely be cheapest on your parents policy.

well, im going to be added to my parents policy i belive, but on my car, which is HOPEFULLY going to be a gs-t, i can't find a nice gsx in my area for the life of me. My parents wouldn't change from AAA to something else because you get alot of discounts on thing for being a AAA member. Travling and stuff, its nice to hvae, plus its good insurance. Maybe i will just talk to my dad and say il just front you the difference.

Because right now he is saying it's a no go on a eclipse because my girl cousin had an eclipse and said insurance was too high and he doesnt want me to have one.

Heck yes a WI buddy. To bad I am also in search for a new dsm, since I sold my baby. Trust me man the insurance will be cheap compared to the mod addiction and repairs!

Also WAIT for a AWD I will never go back to fwd!
My 2 cents

Why dont you just go to your insurance company and ask them for a quote on what it would be. Its quick and simple. Just tell them to quot on you on whatever type of dsm you were looking for. They can fudge the rest to make the quote more realistic. Were you looking for a 1g or 2g? If its 2g then get a quote for a 95 and then a 99. Have them also quote for a gsx and a gst. Just in case you get luck and find one or the other for a good price.:thumb: :talon:

95 tsi 2005 saturn Ion both full coverage with 250 deduc paying 756.00 for 6 months which equals about 65 dollars a car per month, not to promote insurance compaines but just want to save a fellow dsmer a few buck---- esurance.com get a quote

You'll probably get whatever your parents have on their policy. Liability is for people who buy disposable cars, not investments. I never understood the point. If you get in to an accident, liability will only cover who you hit, not you. It also doesn't cover theft.

Guys have higher insurance because their more likely to race someone. I'm sure you'll be picking on Hondas when you find your car. We've all done something(show off) stupid at 16 when given a fast car... I'm sure you'll be no different

Oh yeah are you on the actually paperwork of your dads insurance does it say you are driving one of the cars because if so then you can claim that you have driven with insurance for whatever period of time, when I was 16 I got screwed cause mom had insurance on my car but in her name only and when I had to start paying I had no proof that I had driven with insurance for like a 1 yr making my insurance very high, The other thing is if you go with the company I stated above and pay the 6-month pre in advance they knock off 100.00 dollars or so, the price I gave was with the discount!!!

Guys have higher insurance because of national statistics, does anyone know why you would pay more for a red dsm then a tan dsm. Because more red sports cars get into accidents then tan or other colors. United States and other countires insurance compaines base their rates on statistics, maybe racing is one of them but let's be more precise when answering this question.

The classification also plays a role in insurance, our cars are at the bottom of the favored list of cars one would want to insure, my buddy worked for an insurance company.

DAMN that is insane, that is full coverage right, I have full coverage on my 95 gsx 5spd and it is only 100 a month, liability is like 75. mind you i have a good student discount and my car is still a few years older but that does not seem like a good deal to me at all.

Females, most atleast are more lilley to gey in dumb accident though. Like running your tires off the roads when your not paying attention, it drags you down into the shoulder and whip the wheel the other way and flip your car. Happens alot. Also, which sex uses cell phones during driving more?

But yeah, guys get a nice car and show off. So i understand the high insurance. I just want to know how high it is so i know wether or not to get an DSM.

No offense, seriously just call! It will the more accurate than what anyone is telling you what they pay.

I have the good student discount too. I got quotes from some other companies, they were around 2200-2400 per 6 months, I pay about 1200. My friend with a 98 GSX (its pretty heavily modded, 50 trim, Mullerized suspension) pays 2300 every 6 months.

I just got an insurance quote for a firebird, ford f1-50 and a talon tsi awd and it came out to a Liability coverage $1,175.00 for 6 months :thumb:

I pay about 2,500 for full coverage every 6 months. I know its alot but I found another quote for 1300 for 6 month at esurance.com. I pay so much because Im still paying for my car so i think thats what it is.

Well, I'm 16, hoping to get a DSM within the next month, and am seriously getting steered away because my dad is telling me the insurance will be CRAZY on them. So can abody tell me, from experience what the $$ per year increases, like by how much if at all.

I have AAA right now, covered under my parents vehicles (2003 Chevy truck, 2000 Bravada) but i know when i get my own car is when i will get nailed. Also, i have a B average so i will be getting the good grades discount, but I doubt the will make the cost more plesent.

Stay coverd on the two vehicles you have now and make your mother the primary on the DSM. Thats what I do I pay for insurance on a 91 buick and my mothers the primary on my GSX till I get out of college. GoodLuck.
