Dude, it can't be that bad. You should just cancel with them. I am an insurance agent. And even I, being 20, have 2 speeding tickets, 2 driving under suspension, a DUI and reckless driving. And it is about 350 a month. Sorry I am at work and didn't have time to read the thread{quote}<--*EDIT(see I am at work I put quote) but if you want you can pm me some basic info and I can get you a quote.

:dsm:

off topic and no offense, but its kinda ironic that an insurance agent has a record like yours ROFL bet you dont work for allstate :p

as i said, please dont take offense, im just pointing out irony

WTFFFFF. How do you guys have all these accidents, DUI's, speeding tickets, exibition of speed, etc and still pay those low ass rates. About 3 years ago I got a carpool lane ticket and had a small accident which didn't involve any people (hit a parked car cause I want pointing at something and leaning and being a retard), and the damage wasn't all that much, and I've been paying $320-350 a month from Statefarm for the last 3 years.

Do what the one guy said too, store the car. I've been storing mine since before last Summer when I got tired of paying the goddamn high ass insurance every month and decided to save the money.

I still don't understand how some of you guys pay less and have done hella crap.

Oh yeah, and with State Farm it takes about 3 years for your insurance to revert back to a lower payment. I'm about to take my car out of storage and am anxious to see how much it is.

Simply put, keep the speeding at the track, hold off on the brews before driving and with auto shoulder belts it is hard for My wife to get a no seat belt ticket because it does it all by itself. I have had one ticket in My life (I am 34 now) but I am still paying for it because I was at the back of the pack and Owe 10 grand in damages keeping My license at bay.And even so, to insure the Talon when I do get My license back it will only be $140 a month.

Insurance to me is a big joke! Although yes I do have it, I think its retarted. You pay a couple of hundred dollars a month for what?? Nothinig is truley covered, if you have a 500 dollar deductable and a rock cracks your winsheild, thats out of your pocket to pay for it and if its more than 500 you have to file a claim which results in a raise of price on your policy. I think if you get into an accident is when you should start paying. They base your monthly premium off how much damage is done and one is paid off you quit paying untill anothe accident or something.

In a perfect world, that's how it would work. However...

If all of us had to pay only when a collision occurs, then any insurance company would simply run out of money. Why? People like to embellish the amount of damage done to a vehicle. Most of the time this doesn't work, but sometimes it does. People also try to scam the insurance companies by staging accidents. And if an insurance company drags its' feet through an accident investigation or in paying someone, they face fines or a lawsuit can be filed. On top of that, it's a business. It's main goal is to make a profit. One cannot make a profit when it has to hire investigators to scrutinize an accident scene, file all the paperwork, send out insurance bills, or hire lawyers to be represented in lawsuits when customers only pay during collisions.

Besides, you can always get a zero deductible insurance plan. But be prepared to pay more for it, because you will pay nothing. Interesting, yes?

Ok i've had two following too close tickets previously because i rear ended someone (twice). I went to court and had those tickets dismissed. The other party's repairs went through insurance though. Recently, i just got two tickets for driving on the wrong side of the road and an expired tag (just got it renewed). The court date for those 2 are on the 15th so i don't know how that will come out. Maybe the cop won't be there and i can have the traffic ticket dismissed and show the judge my renewed tag. How much do you guys think my insurance is gonna cost now? I'm 19, and i pay $154/month for liability only. I'm not looking for exact numbers, just other people's insights and personal experience. thanks

That all depends on your insurance company. I know with mine when I got my new car I had about 4 tickets from age's 16-17 and they didn't even mark them down when I just got my new car. More than likely the insurance agency will go back and look at all of your tickets in the last 3 years and base it all off of that. Each company is different. It just depends on who you go through and what they are willing to do. I never go through big companies. I always stick to little podunk insurance agents. They let you know all of the loop holes on how to get around little stuff.

Yeah my insurance is a small company, hopefully they'll be lenient. I got all 4 tickets within like 6 months too..

BTW, i meant to post this in the hangout section :coy:

if you have the tags, that will be dropped.

but as far as your insurance, they only check your record when the policy get renewed. when you renew your policy, or you can do it now:

-tell them that the car is garaged
-it has an alarm
-it has the club (for the steering wheel)
-you dont drive the car to work (you carpool to work)
-the vin numbers are etched on all the windows

edit: this should lower your insurance

i guess they'll be checking my record this month then. and with those tips u gave, wouldn't i need to show proof of all that or are they just gonna take my word for it? Oh and if my tickets were dismissed does that still raise insurance?

Anytime a ticket is dismissed, it does not appear on your record. Dismissed means that you were NOT actually convicted of any wrongdoing according to the gov't

how exactly did you get the driving on the wrong side of the road ticket?? just curious

If you WERE on expired tags at the time the ticket was written (not just no sticker, but actually not having renewed them) you're probably not going to get out of it, however if you bring the paper work with you, you may get the judge to knock the fine down a bit.

Other than that see if your insurance agency has any "safe driver" classes, or anything like that.

i was driving in the safety lane to get into a left turning lane. everybody has done that plenty of times.

OKay yeah.. Check the local laws... usually that is not written up as a "wrong lane" ticket, and you should be able to get it taken down at least, if not dismissed. typically judges don't like those type of "violation" crap just make sure you check the law to see if what you did ACTUALLY falls into the "wrong lane" category.

This website is more geared towards people in Cali but try using some of the general advice available on there. It MIGHT work, who knows. Might as well try and maybe you might save yourself some money.

http://www.ticketassassin.com/visorguide.html

About your insuranc company finding out about your tickets:
(I am speaking out of my experience with only Allstate. The same may or may not apply to your insurance company.)

Insurance companies dont immediatly find out about traffic fines. What happens is they perform random searches every couple of years and thats when they pick up on your fines. Usually when you start a policy or dramatically alter your policy, it might trigger another search on your record.

There are programs you can take to recude your insurance. Have you even considered those?

Also tell them that your car has the Automatic Seatbelt feature. This will also reduce your insurance. ABS will also readuce your insurance (If you have it).

they dont check.

edit " just call over the phone and tell them"

Try Esurance they only charge me 135.00 a month for full coverage (The only reason i have full is because i also have my son in the car at times.) but thats with no accidents or tickets and im only 26. Plus the down was only 220.00. :talon:

I started with gieco, they charged me $240/mo for a 88 Corolla and 95 TSi AWD...since then I've been in 1 accident, 2 speed contests, 2 failure to yields..needless to say I got kicked of that insurance.

Then I switched to All State and it went down to $200/mo with the Corolla as my primary driver. I'm cringe at the thought if buying a 97-99 eclipse and seeing how high the insurance is then.

For those wondering why it's so expensive:

Welcome to California.

The officer says to me both tickets will be held on the same day. I go to court and plead not guilty, and they set my date. In the mail a week later, I received a letter rescheduling the date. Then in another week, I receive the same kind of letter rescheduling it again. I go to the most recent reschedule date, and here's what happened... The officer decided to reschedule them both to different dates. When I found this out, I checked both letters and there was nothing that made this clear besides a docket number at the very top which were both very similar looking. I know...my bad for not having a perfect eye. I had many other people read them when I received them, and they didn't catch this either.

I feel you. Last ticket i got the cop radared me doing 35 in a 35, but he did it from inside a 30 and claimed I was speeding. Then he told me I had to wait 2 weeks for the ticket to get in the system before I could contest it or pay. I called in a couple weeks and my deadline for contesting it was over. I got stuck with a bogus speeding ticket and a near license suspension, because an officer bold face lied to me. If I wanted to contest I'd have to let them take my license.

My best advice is to try to get it registered in another state or at least out of any major city. When I got mine registered with my parents out of the city it dropped 30%. When I turned 21 it dropped another 35-40%. I now pay $50 a month for liability with a dozen speeding tickets on my record. (too many hurried road trips :()

Dropping comp and collision from your policy isn't won't lower your premiums enough to make it affordable. The majority of your premium is spent on liability and that all revolves around your driving record.

Drop the State Farm insurance and start shopping around elsewhere. BTW, avoid Progressive. That's truly a company where you get what you pay for.

I asked my lawyer about this once he said Allstate, nationwide, and geico are teh suck. Currently I am suing allstate, they have refused to accept responsibility for their driver rear ending me while I was still in motion. Now this is why they suck, this accident happened 18 months ago. I dont know about the rest of you, but when it goes up to lawyers you have the discovery, the deposistion, mediation. All kinds of bullshit thats been going on for the last 18 months. Well the chick who hit me, has to go thru it too. Way to go Allstate. You may have cheap rates but you pay for them with time.

I would recommend USAA, but then before I got USAA I had Nationwide, and they were decent with me. Just dont be stupid.
