I am only 15(have my license) and my insurance is only $77 dollars every three months...full coverage

I am looking into some auto insurance for my non-daily driver. I am getting a 1991 Mitsubishi GSX, and I am 18. This will be a car I will drive occasionally, autocross and drag strip runs mostly. I was wondering if there was a company that didn't charge an arm and a leg for insurance. Also, I wanted a special plan so that I could pay less, because I don't drive it as much. The best offer I have gotten was 184 bucks a month for liability only, only driving 6,000 miles a year. You guys know of any companies that would be cheaper. Thanks for the input.

I have a CRAPPY driving record and my "non daily driver" only cost me $90 a month. Check out Progressive, All-State, and Met Life. They're going to give you the cheapest quotes you'll see... If you put it on your insurance as your primary car, and put your 98 on as the secondary your insurance might be cheaper since it's an older car. :D Hope that helps!

Allstate is the best for us younger Racers cheepest as they come with good coverage =)

We've got American Family and my dad has some special insurence on his Vettes, he pays a little a month but is only covered for a certain amount of miles (not sure how many but it's more than enough) He also only pays six months out of the year due to the winters which you may wanna do depending on where you live and when you plan on racing it...

I was just wondering how much some other people's insurance is every month. I think mine is way to high and I just wanted to compare it to some other people. I am 18, I have had no tickets, my last report card was a 3.1gpa, and I also took drivers ed which is supposed to cut down cost. My insurance is $156 a month and its killing me. :(

Thanks

Thats too much bro even for being 18 years old !! i could see you paying that for a 95 Talon tsi but not for an Esi if i were you id shop around and find a lower monthly payment try statefarm they always seem to be the cheepest :thumb:

oh and i pay 126 a month and that with a Raceing on a highway ticket 150+mph that like 3 points or 4 comes off this christmas damm Choppers clocked me and a corvett

That wasent me that was that Geo metro back there :p

you are paying waaaaay too much!!!

need to find another ins. seriously...how long have you been paying for it? the money that you're wasting right now over excess premiums could have went into other stuff.

i'm glad that you brought that up now...at least you can put a stop to this.

btw there is a thread discussing how much everyone pays for ins.

LOL... consider yourselves lucky..... i'm 21, clean record... been quoted the equivalent of about $200 USD/month..... for a friggin ESi - insurance in Toronto is /brutal/ if you're under 25 and driving anything with 2 doors. I guess they have a lot of winter driving claims to account for.. but $200/m is rediculous..

my insurence is $1,810 for 6 months

i pay during the first month half and the other half later

I only pay $100 full cover. I'm 19 and have one speeding and another one for not stoping at a stop sign and crashing into another car (rip 90 gst)

WTF- im getting railroaded, hoesed down, bent over ,and fvcked in the anal passage by SAFE AUTO! Cheapest I could find........312 a month just dropped to 247 a month. Thats full coverage, in my name (21 years old). With 1 ticket for following to closely.

I wish I still had that 18yrs old on parents plan rate. 100 and a few every month.

O well I love every bit of it!

1-800-safe auto
"Play it safe, Safe Auto" ROFL, I use them bastards too. My jetski insurance is through Boat US and is $54.27 a month for 6 months for the stand up ski, and $30.00 for the year for the seadoo sit down ski.

Well my dad made me start paying for it when i turned 18 which was August, but he paid that month so i have only paid one month so far. (september) Thanks for the help guys, looks like its time to go shopping for a new company.

What is the 1995 GST and GS labeled as under insurance? A sports car? Im 17 and want to get one but im not sure if i can afford insurance. Also say what car u have and what ur paying for it (6 months). Thanks -David

I don't think we got the sports car label, just 2dr hatchback I believe. I'm 18, just got my GS-T almost 2 months ago, and the insurance is no more than what I paid with my 1993 Cavalier(roughly $180/month). Check around for online price quotes, I just got one from GMAC via regular mail, for about half as much as I'm paying Allstate. Location and everything factors into it, so look around.

Edit - Both of those are with minimum coverage(state requirements).

I have full coverage with State Farm and I pay $83/month with a $250 deductible, and ive also been in a major car accident with total over $20,000 for the car and $75,000 for the lightpole I hit.

Age and how many speeding tickets are a major factor in how much insurance is also if your still in highschool or college and whether you have good credit or not can also affect how much insurance will be

I'm 17 and I drive a 92 GST. I pay about 130 a month for basic coverage. This is with no tickets, and a slight reduction for good grades.

I'm 18 and in my RS Laser I pay $180 with $500 deductable. I have had 1 speeding ticket and a deduction for grades. I've been quoted from that price all the way up to $490 a month. That's the cheapest I found.
