Insurance in N.Y is just nuts.... my cuz there she pays like close to 7,000 a year for her Nissan Maxima ....im glad i moved from n.y cauze its like next to impossible to drive there or have a kick ass car and worrie and look out the window every 10 mins cause someone mite steal it or some drunk crash into it.

I have heard farmers is good for younger drivers. I am buying the car on Sunday, when I get insurance I will let everyone know which I found to be the cheapest and how much I pay. Thanks guys.

I'm 18 and I just got my Eclipse 95 RS (non turbo) and I had one wreck with anouther car with uped my rate a point or two I pay 159 a month for full coverage..but liability is all the same no matter what car I get..and also if you have turbo it will cost you about 250 or little over 200 for full coverage..but I got a break when I was 18 and I get a huge break when I turn 21 plus I am under my moms insurance which helps..cuz she gets a discount..I have western states insurance on mine..

You guys are lucky. Here in NYC, your screwed with high insurance rates until your 24. Anything under 24 is classified as high risk and they're allowed to charge you an arm and an leg for insurance. I go to school and I work part time making 10g a year and they're expecting me to fish out 6g for just insurance. I'm turning 21 in a few months, lets see how much i'll get looted for this time.

one suggestion on your problem for insurance cost. name the eclipse to your parents. this way it won't cost you an arm and a leg to insure your car. as for you, you can put your name as second driver on the eclipse.

I can vouch for outstanding rates in NY.. I don't even live in the city and I'm 24 and pay 1800 a year for my 99 GSX. I've never had a speeding ticket nor have I ever gotten into an accident. Get this, my winter beater, a 87 Pontiac 6000 costs 1100 for just liability where as my GSX has full coverage.. 25 is the sweet spot though, most people get their rates cut by like 40%

I tried to do that already. I spoke to a Country-Wide agent and a State Farm agent. They both said that, if I was a secondary driver on the policy, they would charge us for the higher price. Which is useless.

20 years old, no tickets or accidents=$112 a month full coverage in OR.

Tom

what about a 16 year old???? what is the cheapest and best insuerance u can get???????

Geico is a pita, they won't insure you unless you've been insured by another company for more than a year. Most insurance companies are like that now. I don't know how people are supposed to get started off with car insurance anymore. I've gone to a lot of websites to try to get quotes, but 9/10 of them denied me a quote since I've never had insurance under a car before.

I'm 19 with like 4 wrecks and like 4 tickets and the cheapest I've found for full coverage is like 600 a month :(

Well I called my insurance today to renew it with my new (used) car and after I gave them the Vin# they said it was a 99 Eclipse GS. Now I know it's a GS-T (turbo, white face gauges, high wing, sunroof, & leather). Should I tell them it's a GS-T? This will increase my insurance cost but what if I get into an accident and my car is totalled. They will probably just give me the value of a GS. Also if they find out it's a GS-T later can they deny any claims? What would you do?

My insurance company did the same thing (progressive, when I spoke with a local agent they said that they classify it as the same thing so if the car was totaled they would give me full value. (Yeah, their value not the actual value)

Damn that's cool, I can't believe it's $30 less a month to insure this car than it was my '99 Maxima SE. I just didn't want to tell my insurance right away it was a GS-T in case they would raise my rates before I researched a little.
