You know, I just put my eclipse on a progressive policy and my insurance rate dropped suprisingly going from a non turbo to a turbo???
I even reiterated to the agent it was a turbo and he said Yep an eclipse GS! That's great until I wreck my car and they say Ohhhh it's a turbo you didn't tell us that. We can't cover you LOL. When I look at the back of my eclipse it does only say Eclipse GS with the turbo written underneath.

Damn you guys have it made!:) If the insurance company says that you have a GS even when you have told them you have a turbo, and even tho they have the VIN and should be able to tell by that, then if you get in a wreck, you should be covered cause thats thier fault. Shut up and dont say another word to them IMO.:D Thats THEIR bad!!!

I think I have the same "problem."

When I switched from my $84 dollar a month full coverage Mazda MX-3 (the 4 cylinder) I asked what the BASE insurance was on the 92 TSI awd. I prepared for the worse when the guy said $48.

...
....

Umm..it's a turbocharged car. Here is the vin again (ran out and double checked the car)

$48.

Well, what is it full coverage on everything?

Oh..that raises it a bit. $67. So I now pay $67 a month on a turbocharged AWD car. Trust me everyone; USAA ownz jooz.

In an unrelated story, my first insurance company ever was Geico. Me and my dad were looking for my second car (My sunbird he gave me blew a head gasket) so as I got interested in cars we would call the Geico place and check insurance. Well, I find the MX-3 and they quote me $124 a month. Anyway, my dad and I go into their offices to pay for the new policy that I will be under. As we are aboiut to pay they say "Wait! Umm...this isn't for a female, is it?" My dad is like "WTF?" Apparently, my name Daniel Brown sounds like a female's name for whatever reason. Remember how I was calling Geico about every car I wanted to be insured under? Well, I had been getting the quotes for female driver. My rates over the course of one minute went from $124 a month to $184 a month. Needless to say, my dad was pissed, we got waway with only paying the first month's coverage, dropped Geico, and then went to USAA which gave me full coverage at $84 a month.

Moral of the story? Geico sucks a large penis.

One of my dipstick friends at work told what I should is buy a Gst or Gsx & just rip off the T or X. Then tell my insurance company that it's a non-turbo. Yeah, he's moron...

Hate to bring the bad news on everyone foolin' your insurance companies or not correcting them, your all goin' to hell.;)

Burn baby burn!.........its the INSURANCE COMPANY'S FAULT, especially when you correct them and they give you the same quote for a non-turbo, like some people on this thread have experienced

i agree!
if you told them what you got and THEY CORRECT YOU...

then its there fault.

It's all in the VIN. If the VIN on your policy is the VIN on your car your covered flat out, 100% of your policy, no matter what the designation it is(GSX, GS-t). By the way, don't bother changing the vin on your car, there are about 7 places its attached or stamped. As far as "burning in hell," simply stated, insurance companies are going to hell for charging me an butt-load of money for my premium, when I have a near perfect driving record, and no claims on my record. That's the truth.
Now on the other hand, if the VIN on the policy is wrong, then it's your fault, your problem for not checking the coverage.
And to those who mis claim their VIN number, why do you bother paying for insurance? If you smash someone else or yourself up, your not gonna get compensated, so might as well drop the coverage now.

ya, my company did the same thing, only the just flat out asked me what model it was , my reply= "uum... i dont really know to much about cars.... its a talon i think....."

I tried not to reply to this particular reply but now I must. You obviously didn't read what my post and others have stated to our insurance reps. "my car is a turbo" So I won't be burning in hell buddy "atleast not for this!" However if I were to read between the lines of your comment I would have to say you are an Insurance salesman and your day must be hell all day and still get to look forward to going to hell

In Sweden they dont charge any different for a GST or a GS..I had both and even came cheaper away with my GST Spyder than with my GS:) They are so rare here that they classifies it in the same category..eventhough they know its a turbo*S*

why would you need to tell them? i don't think they would cover a body kit if you tell them, because it's not stock.

you dont need to tell them anything. What you I did is but renters insurance, some people get property insurance. With this insurance everything in my apartment is insured and they also cover, rims and other stuff you put on your car.

$170/month for liability on a 92 GSX. California, 20 years old, 1 ticket + 1 accident. They tell me once January hits, it will be 2 years since I got my ticket and it will be dropped from my record.

I'm 17 years old, and i am currently paying insurance on a 96 GST. I'm paying $690 every 6 months for full coverage :$250 deductible on comprehensive and $500 deductible on collision. I have never been in an accident (that's been reported, LOL) and never been ticketed (i've only had the car for 3 weeks;). But we're w/ Farm Beaura and i have a couple discounts: B average for school and multiple vehicle b/c im on with the same policy as my rents. But to be honest i think im not paying too much considering that the car i drove for the 6 months before this one was an 89 Corolla and i was paying like $560 every 6 on that thing!! That car wasn't worth #### and im only paying a little over $100 more for a bad ass Mitsu GS-T...Now when you look at it that way...it looks like a hell of a deal;)
