Resolved Installing New Lifters Hard?

I just got my revised lifters in the mail and read over the vfaq.com link and am wondering if this is a very hard task. The vfaq.com shows to just pop out the rockers with a flat blade screw driver and pop in the new lifters and then pop the roller rocker back in. Is it really that easy? Personal experiences welcome.

I had to remove mine during my cam swap. It was pretty easy and it did only take a big screw driver. When you're looking at things, you'll figure out how to place the screw driver to pop them out and then back in... just need to stare at them for a little

Did you do it with cams in or cams out? Im trying to avoid taking the T-Belt off.

In all reality the directions are simple and correct. They just left out the part where you you can't keep the screwdriver steady and your most likely going to lose the top 3 layers of skin on your knuckles. It is more difficult with the cams in but it's doable. Good luck man.

When I did mine, I followed the vfaq and it worked fine. I did have to turn the engine over a few times to get some of the rockers off. MAKE SURE you take out the spark plugs when you do this. Otherwise, a little elbow grease and the vfaq should do the trick. Good luck

You have to take the cams out, they rest on the rockers, which rest on the lifters.

You don't have to take the cams out. As long as the lobes aren't compressing the valve springs, then the rockers go in and out pretty easily. If the lobes are compressing the springs, turn the engine over.

Yep, no need to remove the cams. I did my 3g lifter upgrade in the driveway, in the snow by just taking off the valve cover like the vfaq said to do.

Took about 20 minutes.

you definately don't need to remove the cams. The install is very simple if you follow VFAQ.

You may find it easier to remove the cams, but it can be down without. I orginally did it with my cams in.

If you leave the cams in, make sure the lifter you are removing does not have its valve spring under compression. Rotate the motor as needed. Use two screw drivers and a magnetic pick up, cuz you will drop a lifter or two in the process, and maybe someone to help you wedge the roller rocker back in. Probably take a couple of hours depending on how good you are at wedging them back in.
