Installing 3g lifters in my new 2.4 questions.

I got some 3g lifters from Jackson machine.
They have some kind of wierd instructions. I put some 3g lifters in my other car and did things a bit different.
Jackson says there is already oil in the lifters.Then recommends you put them in a vice and squeeze them until the oil comes out of them but not too hard or you wreck them.
Some warning about if you install them as is you could bend stuff.
I thought if I put them in the car and let them sit for a few hours then any residual extra oil is pushed out and they then pump up again on start up. After all ,when you run them in the car they are pumped up and then you shut the car and restart it again right away they are still pumped up.This is confusing me.

I also thought could just use paperclip to push in the plunger and drain the oil out why put them in a vice and risk damaging them?

Someone want to clearly explain this to me?

A paper-clip is the preferred method of bleeding the oil out ....witnessed first hand at the Guru...Wes Hess aka HighPsi91, as he prepped his head

Also, I was told, EVERYTIME the lifters are removed from a head they should be bled upon re-installion.

Heresy or not, I do it, and have had no ill effects.

I think read if you have them full of oil you should not start car for several hours.
I am still curious. We put them in empty and they fill up when you drive the car.but then you shut car off and they bleed down a bit. So why does having them full hurt anything or is it that they never get that full in the car when working.
I have new 3g lifters and supposedly jackson has already oiled them. But i dont' like the vice idea so think will use the paperclip method.
I won't be starting the car anyway until a few days after the engine is finished up anyway. It might be a week from now. Surely that would give them enough time to bleed down anyway.

well jackson also says that 2g pistons on 1g rods is a stupid idea, which we all know different. Putting them in a vise works ok, but when you can just put the paperclip in them and bleed them, there is no reason to put them in the vise. The reason that you want to bleed them is because when they are full of oil and fully primed, they will make your valves hit your pistons, you don't want that, just take a paperclip and put it in the whole, drain out the oil and install them, just make sure that they are squishy and not firm when you put them in.

I did the paperclip thing..vice is stupid as hell. Clip was quick and easy. They didn't have them anywhere near full of oil or whatever it was so not sure why they are worried.
Also guess if they sit a bit they will bleed down anyway. After all you drive your car and then shut it off and then start it again right away .Or don't they fill completely with oil when running?

Anyway they were squishy like they should be.

When they're full of oil they're almost solid. So having them fully etended and starting the car like that will mean that the valves will open further and possibly not close all the way, either of which might cause them to hit the pistons.

I'm not sure if they'll bleed down from the spring pressure over time, they might.

The way they "pump up" during normal conditions is just enough to take out the play from the rockers, that's why they're called "lash adjusters". They don't pump up to their full length during normal operation, since that would stick the valves open and you'd have no compression.

ok that explanation makes some sense.I used a paperclip and stuck it in there ,there wasnt' that much oil in most of them but did it to be safe.I already read when you pull off cams they can extend and then you should wait like three hours,think that is on the rre cam change tips.
I am not worried anymore as used the clip.The vice sounds like it could wreck the lifters.
