hey i just got my evo injectors in the mail today, and im gonna install them tomorrow.. ive never done injectors so i was just wondering what i should look for and does anyone have any tips? as far as i know its just a plug and play straightforward install. also i got a new intake pipe and the recirc is in a different location.. what kind of flexible piping could i use as a new recirc pipe that i could get at like napa? thanks in advance!! oh and ive got a hallman mbc that im not sure works or not, how can i test it and make sure it works?

When you go to remove your old injectors, make sure you depressurize the fuel lines by unplugging the fuel pump harness in the trunk, and then cranking the engine over several times to relieve pressure. Everything else is straightforward, bolt on affair. Just a small tip though, there are 3 black plastic spacers between the fuel rail and head that are very easy to drop into the darkest places of your engine bay. Also, don't over-torque the fuel rail bolts. Tight is tight.

And remember to get proper tuning software to compensate for the larger injectors, or your performance with them will be worse than with stock injectors.

Good luck

Injector Instal

1. Reduce the internal pressure of the fuel lines and hoses by completing the following operations:

a. Disconnect the fuel pump harness connector at the rear of the fuel tank.
b. Start and run the engine until it stalls, then turn the ignition switch to OFF.
c. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
d. Connect the fuel pump harness connector.

2. Disconnect the high pressure fuel line form the fuel rail. CAUTION : Cover with a shop towel to avoid gasoline spillage from any residual fuel in the fuel rail or line.
3. Disconnect the fuel return line from the fuel regulator.
4. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts.
5. Remove the fuel rail with the injectors and regulator in position. Being careful not to drop any of the injectors while removing the rail.
6. Remove the injectors from the fuel rail. NOTE : Fuel may spill out of the fuel rail when the injectors are removed. FUEL RAIL INSTALLATION

You don't have to but it's a good idea to use some antiseize on the three bolts that hold the rail to the head. the bolts like to corrode .and like talonDSMerr pointed out don't over tighten those bolts.

awesome, thanks everyone for the input. oh and as far as tuning, im just gonna run my 2g maf with the injectors till i can afford an afc and hope shes ok. anyone have any input on testing that mbc?

I'd probably just do it right and wait for the SAFC before installation

Tip #1: (as someone else said) DON'T drop those spacers!! It is way too easy for them to get away from you and disappear forever.
Tip #2: Be sure to put a little oil on the injector O-rings before twisting them into the rail. A pinched O-ring will leak like crazy and could ruin your day.
Tip #3: (learned this from RRE) To reinstall the injector harness connectors, you can take one of the old injectors, insert it halfway into the connector, and pre-assemble the spring clip onto the connector, so that it is easily pushed right on the new injector.

Another small tip is to open the fuel cap and let the pressure out of the tank itself before installing the injectors/pump.

If you don't have a Haynes manual you need to buy one. ANYONE who plans on working on/modding their own car needs a Haynes manual. Even though you can find a lot of stuff online, and most things for dsm's, you should still own one. That way you don't have to ask simple questions that have been asked and answered 10,000 times. Either that or you can search first.
