Installing (reinstalling injectors)

I've never torqued my fuel rail. Get new seals and insulators and just hand tighten. I've used OEM ones and never had issues.

You should have the black spacers between the rail and head.. If not then you most likely are tightening it down way too much.. Some new seals and insulators from a parts store will be fine. .And yes lube is a must. Otherwise you'll just tear them as you install them.

Yes, must use some sort of lube, can't go in without it. Or seals will go to crap. :(

I've bought from them in the past and so have many others with no complaints. I'm just used to dealing with STM and they are awesome!

I've tried a vendor ring in past and ended up having to get more to act as a spacer. Instead of waiting a week to get some simple o-rings in the mail, I just get them same day from a autoparts store. One set went strong for about 12k miles and sold car with them still on with no issues. They even had the grommets from HomeDepot. All made from ?Vitrol? material safe for fuel systems and high heat.

There are some rubber components I wouldn't get from auto stores and those are the ones in tight spaces and they need to be precise so I just get them from the dealership, quick shipping, dealer direct, and FREE shipping.

My dealership NEVER charges me $8 to ship a $1.50 part.

There are torque specs for every bolt. It goes by the size of the bolt. They list it in some repair manuals. Use spit on the o rings.

You need new o-rings and insulators for the injectors, period. SOmetimes you even need thicker ones/ more insulators/grommets to put enough pressure from the top to bottom to avoid boost leaks and fuel leaks.

Yes, I agree... I've ordered new ones. They are on the way. Just wanted to make sure I don't torque too hard and crush something when I have the new ones.

Anyone have a picture or a diagram of how the injectors are installed. Spacer and all. Can I use the OEM spacer on aftermarket injectors? The engine was built prior to me getting it. I'm going to reinstall the injectors with the new parts. (Can I tell what injectors I have after I take them out?)

I dont know if anyone mentioned the fact that the o-rings must be lubed before installation. Some motor oil on the end of your finger is enough to do the trick.

Yep, post #6. Lube is very important on those o-rings.

Get o rings from extremepsi.com. Def use lube, i suggest dielctric grease. Worked like a charm for me

+1 on the guys comment below. Use rtv on the spacers or a dab of superglue on one sides(head side in my case, that way you can manuever the rail easier with less clutter). Theres no reason to remove the rail spacer so you wont hurt it gluing it on IMO.

are the fuel rail spacers common? i lost one somewhere in the engine bay putting new injectors in.. looked for 3 hours.. livid.. can i just pick them up at any auto store or is this a dealership piece?

I use di-electric grease on the o-rings and I have reused the same set on a couple different inj over the past 2 years with no problems.

Probably cant get them at an auto parts store, but I'm sure you can get some washers and stack them to the correct thickness and use them instead. I would put them in the middle one. You can probably find a nylon bushing or small PVC fitting at a hardware store and cut it to thickness.
