installed evo injectors, now car wont start

Do you have any way to tune these 560cc injectors?

+1

BUT being that the injectors are 19% bigger and the maf flows 20% more, in theory it should still start up and run.

Double check your wiring. If it's good then try swapping back the maf or the injectors one at a time to figure out which is faulty if any.

the tuning wouldnt cause the car to not start,
plus with the 560s making the car richer, the 2g maf will lean it out,

not saying tuning isn't imperitive,

This does not make it an acceptable way to tune a car. If you ever made a maf compensation table you would know that just because one maf is 19% different than another at 250hz, doesent mean that it is 19% different at 2000hz. But, the car would start even with no maf and 560's. I'm guessing the cas is unplugged.

At idle the 2G MAS puts out almost the same Hz as a 1G, only 3% lower, so you are going to be dumping in >20% too much fuel. Across the rest of the Hz range its ~23% lower, so it almost works out. But, you are going to be WAY too rich for startup and idle.

Exactly....hence the need for an AFC or some type of fuel control if you plan on installing larger injectors. It's not like the addition of a 2G MAS will globally move the entire fuel curve 17%.

My statement above wasn't really in reference to the car not begin able to start because of the injectors- it should still at least try to start. I meant that he shouldn't be driving the car without some additional fuel tuning device.

well its not boost leak, i recently replaced the intake manifold gasket, and sealed up a couple more at the tb, theres no leaks in the system.. thats when i found my stock maf was bad, when i had the shop do the gasket etc. so i ordered the 2g maf and the injectors. from what i had found the two should work well enough together for my car to be driveable until i could afford an safc. but now that i put it all in its just turning and not firing.. as for checking the wiring of the maf, i bought the 2g maf with one of the plugs that goes straight from a 2g maf to a 1g plug. and i replaced the o rings and grommets on the injectors before i installed them. my car has been sitting for over a month and a half, and my mom is about to call it quits and cancel the insurance, leaving me carless. im out of ideas, and im starting to lose hope. is there a way i can test if im getting fuel? or spark? or if the maf is good? i dont know much about cars except the basics so bear with me please!

so am i going to need an afc just to get my car to start?

You should be able to start it without tunning but it isn't good for your 02 sensor, rings,.... in all its not good to run rich!

did you make sure everything was plugged it... everything was clamped down tight? you said its not firing... meaning its not getting spark?
well then you need to check the coil pack, Power transistor, plugs, wires, CAS... did you take the CAS off... (not sure why you would) if so make sure its set in correctly and the notch wasnt put in 180* off... (i did this once haha)

And i was wondering to those other than the OP..
How does getting a 2g maf going to make it "ok" to run bigger injectors!
the 2g maf just flows more air than the 1g maf and lets the ecu now the mas of air flow the engine is taking in so it can.... Try and match the fuel to keep the ratio that the ecu is set for... the ECU doesn't know theres 560s so its going to keep the cycle duty higher correct!? So since im got a 3" GM maf, i can run 650's and not tune but run right? (sarcasm)
Making no sensor as to how putting a 2g maf will help it run the fuel ratio correctly!
Correct me if my knowlegde is off!! (seriouly, i dont like blabin on if im wrong haha)
thanks!

and back to the OP
just check over everything again.. check for spark and GoodLuck!!

SkaterShawn lots of people have done the 2gmas + 550s/560s with no other tuning whatsoever, myself included. It's not the best setup but it's not horrible either. The ecu can usually compensate for any differences through the fuel trims, and using 550s leans it out a little at WOT which is a good thing since our target afr from the factory was around 9.1:1 according to Thomas Dorris (ecmlink founder)

I know that. I'm just saying he doesn't need an safc to get the car started and at least the car is driveable.

First you need to see if you have spark, fuel & compression. Start with spark, pull a spark plug wire and rest it against the valve cover and turn the car over see if you get spark in each cylinder. That is your first step.

Double and triple check your power transistor connection.

Mine was old and corroded and the car wouldn't start (or would only start on two cylinders) unless the plug was JUST right.

I cleaned it out and re-did the pins and it works great now. If you have two people, have one person wiggle the power transistor connection while the other is cranking the car over. This was how I discovered my problem.

I changed the spark plug wires one night and just barely bumped the power transistor harness and the car wouldn't start.

That is my best guess. Check the connection to the coil too.

thats what im talking about!
thank you...

Have you checked compression? My guess would be that if the car has sat for a long time there might not be enough oil film on the cylinder walls to build compression. Squirt a teaspoon down each cylinder and see what happens.
Yes, a lot of people run 550's and a 2G MAS with "no issues", but the EVO injectors typically flow 585cc to 610cc, so that's 30% more fuel. You are actually going to be even richer than the factory 9.5:1. Just not a good idea IMO.

Are you sure you are telling us everything? Was your car having any issues before you installed the injectors and maft? Just from the story line it seems like you had issues before the swap. You never did answer the question of how did you know your 1g maft was bad. Did you just asume or did you test it out?

i had some massive boost leaks goin on because the intake manifold gasket was shot, and i didnt want to deal with romoving the intake manifold so i took it to my mechanic, sosa, some of you might know who he is. he recently opened a shop in town here and since he daily drove a 600 plus hp talon i figured he'd be the guy to go to. after he had finished sealing up all the boost leaks, he showed me how he'd found the maf was bad, by letting the car idle and unplugging the maf smoothed out my lumpy idle. with the maf plugged in it didnt want to stay on, without it it idled nice and smooth. but then after i got it home, ordered the 2g maf and the injectors, and put it all in it wont start.. i barely got it to start up with no maf plugged in so i could burn the fuel out (to get rid of fuel pressure for the injector install). im not sure why it started and drove home from the shop and then seemed to crap out in my driveway, but it did. maybe its just cause the gas in it is like over 2 months old now?

old gas could do it, but im not sure if 2 months is old enough.
fill it up with at least some 93 and see if it changes anything.

2month old gas is no big deal IMO. My car sits all winter much like a lot of dsms and it cranks right over in the spring.
