hey guys ive read some how to's on injector installs on here but does anybody have any step by step instructions on how to install new injectors on a 2g? or any tips would be greatly appreciated..just trying to get some more info on this process before i start getting my hands dirty..thanks before hand

It' pretty straightfoward man. Unbolt the 3 bolts holding the fuel rail to the head. Pull plug wires off of coils. Take out the pvc. Unbolt the feed line from the rail. Lift the rail. Remove injector plugs. Remove injectors. Install new injectors. Plug connectors into new injectors. Reinstall rail and everything you removed during removal process.

It's pretty straight forward as long as your new injectors have all the seals already on them. I would put some lubrication on the o-rings that slide into the rail so they don't get pinched. Other then i only take the feed side off and am able to life the rail like that.

What you need to do is take off the rear seat cover and unplug the fuel pump. Start the car and let it die. Keep doing that until it is not starting any more.

Unplug the spark plug wires, unplug the injectors, remove the PCV and unbolt the 3 bolts holding down the rail. Don't loose the black spacers.

The 4 injectors should still be in the rail, if they are, use a rag to cover the injector around the rail and slowly remove it. There will still be some pressure in the rail and you don't want the fuel to spray you in the face. The rest of the injectors will easily come out now. Also try to catch or soak up any remaining fuel.

The new injectors will need lubrication (spit works) on the o-ring where it inserts back into the rail. Also lube up the lower insulator too.

Put it all back on (don't forget the 3 spacers), plug the pump back in. I would recommend to pull the MPI fuse from the under hood fuse block and turn the car over a few times to get the fuel line pressurized. You are looking for a leaking o-ring. Last thing you want to do is then do a boost leak test to verify the lower insulator seal is making a proper air seal.

And to add onto that, if you attempt to tighten it down you will most likely crack the rail.

Say you have bigger injectors, and your ecu is tuned for bigger injectors, but you have a stock fuel pump. What could happen?

Depends how big you're talking... The stock pump can go a little over the stock 450cc but no that much. Then you run into fuel cut-out at higher rpm's and not running enough fuel, which could hurt your performance/internals. Its always best to upgrade fuel pump/AFPR (Aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator) then go big from there. Also a fuel pump rewire kit helps with fuel cut-out. Once you upgrade to a Walbro 255 lph, you are good for most basic street tunes. If you're going high horsepower goals, then your looking for dual units or huge flowing external fuel pumps.

I actually have a question about this too.. guy I bought my FIC 650cc's off of said I could run them perfectly fine, my A/F ratio would be a tad rich, but it would run alright. Anyone agree?

Also, when i removed the stock injectors, are we supposed to re-use the little plastic o-ring looking piece that sits on the bottom near the head? it doesn't seem like they will fit on the injector tip, anyone have any advise on this one?

It may very well have started out as rubber LOL, this is what they look like. They seem almost like seats rather than seals. The guy I bought them from said I don't need em, but I want to be sure.

Yes you need them, you will need the corect ones for your injectors too they are not all the same. If you dont have them you will have a bad boost leak.

Don't do it. There are no injectors that you can bolt up to a 2g without any tuning device and have it run properly.

If those seals are rock hard, get a full new set for all 4 injectors. I'm sure some of the other seals on there are pretty brittle as well.

Whoever sold them to you seems to have told you a good bit of incorrect info...

I agree Brian. The top seals on the injectors look brand new, the injectors themselves look in great condition. So I'm going to order a set of seals from fic for them and then most likely get an safc to lean the mixture out.

Thanks for the good info guys!
