My injectors are good. I have 6ohms at the connector and when I turn the key forward to start I have 12.5 volts. Which seems really high since i only use a 1.5v AA to clean them. I deep cleaned the injectors and they spray nice. I also have a pinging noise and it runs lean. Here is a video of the Pinging noise. I'm not 100% sure what it is.

Still sounds like the trigger plate is pinging against something behind it - why you don't see those witness marks mentioned.

Dang ! you got some serious idler roller issues with the timing belt not being centered over the cam sprockets - not supposed to be hanging over the front edge like what it in the video..
This could be the reason of the pinging as well.

Yeah I'm having a hard time getting that thing center too. I replaced both pulleys and tensioner arm. The trigger plate doesn't seem to be touching anything. The only thing that I haven't replaced is the shaft that the tensioner arm goes on. I couldn't find anyone who sells it.

Would a lean mixture cause that pinging noise? Because when I unplug injector #3 nothing changes.

12.5v is normal when no current is flowing. To prove this connect one side of any size resistor to your 12v battery (with the other side of resistor unconnected). You will always measure 12v at the other side (since no current is flowing to drop any voltage across the resistor).

:ohdamn:My spark plug in cylinder 3 was smashed in. Re-gaped and problem was solved. Also that pinging noise is from a little dent I had in my trigger plate. I just took it out and straightedge it out on the vise. Everything checks out now. :)

Was the same when I got my Laser 7 years ago-for I was nervous also.
It was in sad shape when I got it. One cylinder was huffing away (bad spark plug and wire) while the others were in good shape. Timing was way out of orbit since it was running horribly pig rich (Found out that the motor was a JDM GALANT VR-4,4G63 setup with the 510 injectors and a B16G turbo. With it connected to a stock ECU, the stock system used 450 injectors. Thus, with 510's I was running pig rich. I had to go back to 450's to get my A/F setup right), thus the timing was horribly advanced to compensate with the extra fuel the motor was getting.
Granted, all I had to do to the thing was belts (main belt was already starting to tear- I was lucky), plugs, wires and tranny fluid change (Redline MT-90), but it was in the back yard on my patio deck for three weeks working on it when I can.
When I finally got it all back together after numerous checks with the timing marks on all sprockets where they were dead on, I connected up the battery and got the current running through the system where I hit the key and the thing fired right up.
It squealed some (I didn't have the ALT belt too tight) and shortly stopped squealing.
After the initial rich mixture warm up, thing then settled down and purred to a nice 750rpm idle.
I knew right then, it was time "to enjoy the ride".
Been that way since - running good in it's stock form.

"Enjoy the Ride" - good luck as always .. DSM
