I'm going to try and change this tread since no one wants to help due to this is such a common thread

1995 eagle talon tsi awd
100% stock even stock radio

parking lights and everything accioated with them will stay on even after switch is turned off and when the door is open the dumby alarm goes off like the switch is still on (does this mean its a bad switch?)But sometimes they'll turn off and with the headlights on still dont work even tho the brake lights (not tail lights) and headlights do

I pulled out the tail light fuses and relays about 10 times today none of them are bad i did regerous testing on this ### its the most common problem(one thing i noticed i can pull out the fuses and relays and the tailights stay lit) does this mean the acc. wire for the lights shorted into a power wire somewhere?

I was standing there after i pulled all the fuses out and the tail lights were still on bafold and they started to flicker then went out so i put all the fuses and relays back in turned the lights on and no dashlights ect. then they poped on and wouldnt shut off again so i gave up for the night and d/c the battery

Now i understand its probably the switch or a ground somewhere because this thing is all stock so its not some hack job somewhere im just looking for some tips for what grounds to check and how to find out if its the switch because i dont want to replace if its not gunna solve anythingbecause its a &%$*#$%# to change

If you can pull the fuse/relay and they stay lit, you have a short somewhere. Possibly in the multifunction switch, maybe in the wiring.

If you wouldn't mind, test the multifunction switch as per this. The tops screwed up, but its readable. Also if you unplug it and they go out it prob the switch, if you unplug it and they stay on you knwo to look else where.

So i would like to take a minute too show my apperciation to NYS highway department for puttting more salt down this year then is in all the oceans in the world on my street and corroding the $h!t out of the only exposed wires on my entire car

Thanks to the gentleman who told me to unplug the switch! that was the best thing i read online about this issue soo let me wrap up my story

So today i unpluged the switch and it did nothing my f*in light were still on so i put my tail inbetween my legs and started trouble shooting ground wires starting at the lights found nothing all ground i could see were intack i wiggled some to see if there was a difference and there wasnt so i was like really wtf so i looked down under the p/s pump and noticed a bunch of wires that were covered in salt (thanks nys:f-u:) so i took my handy dany screw driver and brushed the salty oxidation off and surprise surprise it arched over to my screw drive i was like mother f*er and said im not pulling this apart now because its like 36 here in the armpit of the world(syracuse ny:D) so i disconnected the battery for now im gunna pull the harness and replace the wires aas soon as it gets a little bit warmer ill post the picture cant see the harness but the screwdriver is pointing to it hope this helps someone out some day

checked the wires none were fryed just dirty fml back to the drawing board
how come all these lights are on yet never poping a fuse if its a short wouldnt the fuse pop?

So i've been messing with this thing alll day ive check every ground I can find i cant find a single messed up wire on this entire thing but I have check the dimmer switch(dashlights shut off but parking and tailights stay on) and headlight switch did absolutly nothing(all lights still on)...Now in theory (correct me if im wrong)
Since its not the head light switch nor dimmer and its not blowing any fuses/relays it must be getting power somehow after the fuse block? so from the fuse box back to switch? and it wouldn't be a bad ground because its not popping the fuse?

You've already eliminated the switch, relay, and a fuse. Did you check to see if theres a difference when the 15A fuse is pulled? If theres no difference its a short to power. This way would not result in any blown fuses.

You could alternativley start pulling other fuses to see what circuit is supplying the power to the lights so we could maybe arrow down your search a little bit.

Its not much wiring, just start following the green and white wire that comes after the 15A fuse and see what you come up with.

Hahah got the same maunel I've been reading that same diaram but theres like 3 parts...so i broke out the test light and all my normal fuses (not the big ones) except the fog light have power on both sides of the fuse....sooo talkedd to a few people and its been really wet out here last 2 weeks and it was fine over winter when it was a frozen bird but they think its moisture related somehow
Ya and I forgot to add as I checked with the test light the lights and gauges chose not to go on even with the lights on but results with the test light weren't different

Wow I compeletly overlooked what you said when I first read it that was a brillant idea seriously so i did what you said and it turns out the ignition switch fuse is the culpert this mistery is far from being solve tho it may be powering those things but my abs a/c and cooling fan all still have power on both sides of the fuse they're not stuck on like the parking lights? more shorts?
I pulled apart my calum and looked at the ignition wires and everything looked brand new? bad ignition? short? and how some sometimes they go out and even the switch won turn them on
