are you just renting out dyno time or are you having sean tune it? also...are you still going to be burning chips?

I want to do a baseline run first to see what it's putting out with the same tune I used to run 130mph. Then Sean can have a look and see if there's more power hidden in the motor somewhere. I'm always up for more power!

Yes, I'm still burning chips. I picked up a nice compatible laptop a few months ago so I could make housecalls! :) It's convenient having it in the car so I can do some logging, then pull over and make changes.

Did I mention my Laser got 45.4 mpg a few weeks ago? That's gotta be a record.

well, I've got something up my sleeves for the summer, the car IS running right now, but pretty soon it wont be for at least a couple months. I installed the fuel cell, but I'd like to relocate it to a better spot, which will either involve rewelding the spare tire hump upside down or fabricating some type of way to fill up the car with gas with the cell under the car. Next season will probably be the next time I get to run the car, and when that time comes around, I'll HOPEFULLY be in the same situation as dave. (needing a cage and scatter shield, but again, I suck at driving, so we'll see) I'd like to remind you dave, theres a 20 dollar per hour fee for using race gas at fftec, which he MIGHT remove if you don't use his wideband o2 sensor.

As for danny's comment, all dave needs to break into the tens is some more seat time, the drag radials and tuning time will only let him run faster.

I can't wait for next season, It will be a good one.

modern science tells me that he couldn't trap 130 if he wasn't putting down that power. Yes, he doesn't have much traction, but he has enough to get up to 130mph over the course of the 1/4 mile. If he were to simply eliminate the time wasted due to wheel spin, (by getting to know his car better), and have 100% of his run be time when the maximum power is being put to the ground without breaking traction, he would run a 10. Drag radials are the easy way out, he has enough traction to get up to 130, the extra time simply comes from when he isn't putting down power due to wheel spin. Weather it requires backing off the throttle, or slipping the clutch at a different rate, it can be done, and dave's exactly the type of guy who could do it.

Brian, it sounds like your car is going to be very fast when it's done.

When I did the 11.3 @130 run I backed off the throttle halfway through first gear to make sure the tires were hooked up. It's something I learned from racing my fwd Laser. I needed to get a feel for the car and it's traction limits so I could drive it better on the next run. Unfortunately I didn't get a second chance that day. :( So I still don't know what my car can do on a good run!

I'll probably stick with the Kumho MX's for now and see how they work now that the weather is warming up. I'll try dropping the pressure down to 20psi next time. If I can hit a low 1.7 60' time and hit second gear cleanly it might be good enough for a 10. It should be possible with these tires.

I can't slip the clutch too much or else it heats up and slips when I shift gears. It grabs best when I bang the gears. Someone remind me to unplug the windshield wiper motor next time I'm out, OK? :)

You guys you guys you guys I boost leak tested again and it was my PCV valve that was leaking boost into my crankcase and I fixed it with a check valve and my boost controller is leaking barely so it will get some Teflon tape and I Sawzalled the core support holes for the FMIC and I have to replace the oil pressure switch because it was broken and the alternator because the voltage regulator went out and it's probably because I need to throw on a heat shield for the O2 housing but it's gonna be all good and I'm hella excited to have a car that will be running again after I fix all these random problems!

who are you and what have you done to Mahesh's writing skills? LOL

haha!!! ROFL

Im going to be doing the 4-bolt swap on monday, maybe tuesday. We finally have "free day" at school so i can bring the talon in and work on it. So the soonest I'll be able to go to the track again is next wednesday, but im not sure if im going to go. I have some tuning to do and i might want to take it to fftec to get the car perfectly dialed in. Either that or i'll give Dave a call... LOL

Ron, did you ever get a chance to tune mason's car? Did you buy it?

Hey, I never did anything to Punjabi Sports... aside from spreading the legend of his car. :D

Almost done!

whooo...i finally got my a new BISS in the mail and the car idles now. i dont have to feather the gas every time i put the car in neutral. but man do i want the meth tune already

NICE!!!

I finally put the 4-bolt in yesterday. Does anyone know if a 60/20/20 mix of redline 75-90/lightweight shockproof/MTL will be bad for the rear diff? I forgot to buy fluid and had to just throw in everything i had! Im going to change it in a day or two when i go to jiffy lube for my oil change, but for the time being will it be ok? I figured it would be better to have a few different things in there that will top the rear end off, than to have it half full of 1 kind of fluid...

Dave, you seem to be the person who has gotten 100 octane most recently, since gas has gone up, has the 100 octane as well? or is it still $4.69? Im talking about the woodside rd. spot.... Thanks

So whens the next trip to Infineon going to be? Looks like everyone is getting ready. Mahesh, are you ready to go break your car that you just got running?! haha j/k. I want to go to the track, but i want my car to stay running for a while. I know i cant go this week because i have a few more maintenence things to do... im almost at 5k miles on the motor and trans so its time for a fluid change for both, while im at it i'll put just 1 kind of fluid in the rear diff. Lastly, my friend needs a 1g bov and i need a different intake pipe (that he has) so i might make a trade and try to fab up a CAI for my car so that i can try to squeeze some more power from the 16g. Anybody have one of those 2G maf/cheap filter adaptors so that i can bolt up a 90* bend and put a filter in the SMIC location? I dont want to order one from e-bay but i might have to.

Dave, i already know you are ready for the track, just let us know when you are going, even if i dont race, i'll be there.

I might just go once school is over to check out the cars but I don't plan to run until I get DSMLink. Speaking of which, I verified that my ECU is indeed an EPROM but is it possible to run a non-EPROM ECU while mine is getting socketed and what not? I figured it should be fine but wasn't entirely sure.

The car seems to be running stronger than with the 7-bolt but I'm concerned with the 2100. Anywho I hope it does fine until its time comes around.

My cars not ready yet. I'm taking the Talon to FFtec today so they can install the rollbar. It might be ready next week if everything goes well. I also have to pass tech inspection at the track, I'm not sure how picky they are. We'll see. :)

Danny, the price of 100 octane went up, I forget exactly how much, I think it's $539 now, maybe $5.59.

2GeNTSi-A non EPROM ecu will work in your car as long as it's for a 2G turbo.

Damn! looks like i might just have to re-install my methanol injection... im not sure where i'll put the tank though, i had it in the smic location, but im going to make myself a CAI and the air filter is going to be there now.

I'll be totally down to go once I make sure it's running OK... couple weeks probably. Why'd you pull your meth Dan?

it was one of the factors in me blowing my motor (mainly my ignorance) and by the time i dropped the new motor in the car i was due for smog, so i just put it back to stock for the break-in and visuals for smog. After i passed smog ($$$anyways) i threw the mods back on and have been iffy about throwing the methanol back on, even though i have everything i need to do it. Its just one more thing that can fubar and lead to me blowing my new expensive motor.

im dying to see the cage dave, take some pics asap.

Once you make a 10.3 run in it (### thats what I think you'll get with those tires, LOL), you should hand the keys over to danny, mahesh, me, or any of us other newbs just to show how much of a difference the driver makes. 12's in a 10 second car ftw, LOL.

HA! yeah right, you'd like that, I'm sure.

My car is already hard to drive. One thing I learned about driving on the street with a car this powerful is to respect it's power. Things happen quickly at WOT. I have to look far ahead and make sure the road is clear before I nail it. Otherwise something bad might happen, like hitting a corner too fast and going offroad. Right? :)

How about this: Drive your car as best you can and see what time you get, then let me drive it and see if I can go faster!

I might let you do that dave, just to see how your bars compare to mine.... or should i say my bars compare to yours. Just remember though... (chinese accent) you break you buy!~!~

I did one 1/4 mile run the other day when i still had a wee bit of 100 octane left in the tank and 15psi on the boost gauge... man if that wasnt like a 13.1 i dont know what is... Then i filled up with 91 again and cranked the boost controller back out so now im at 10psi again... still fast, but damn i cant wait to crank up the boost again. a built motor and big boost if fun, you REALLY have to watch the tach because 7k is there in the blink of an eye.... or in dave's case 8500rpm haha

Soon my redline will be 9100rpm. Zing! I hope it's high enough.

I took the Talon to Full Function Tec last Wed to get the roll bar installed. It should be ready next week. I'm hoping to do a couple more dyno pulls while the car is there so Sean and I can try out a few ideas for even more power. Poor tires  won't stand a chance!

it was worth asking,.... well my track season is over, I no heighted today, and I'm basically trying to do everything I can to keep my mind off it, but I can't. Im gonna take the talon out for a spin, then spend all tomorrow taking stuff off so I can get that block out and shi......

I've said to much, LOL
