mahesh, you must be on salary. How else are they getting you to pull so much overtime? Or are you trying to set a record for paying off your student loan the quickest? :)

Yeah, I'm on salary, haha. I managed to not have any student loans luckily... overtime sorta comes with the territory. Since the engineers are the ones that design the process, we have to be around to supervise during manufacturing. It'll all be over at the end of the month... phew. Working night shift blows.

I'm going out to the track tomorow. Anyone else?

Should I update my profile yet? I'm still proud of my 14b time and would like to keep my name on top of the 14b list, but which time is a greater accomplishment?

if you update the setup, your 14b place will change? It doesnt save it?

I have 3 options for you dave.

1. i can go tomorrow, tape for you, and miss the chance to work on my car, possibly delaying me from racing for another 2 weeks or so.

2. I can go work on my car tomorrow, I'll be ready to race next week, i can go, tape for you next wed, and then you can tape for me when im running. You get to go up to infineon alone, get some more runs in, and practice with your setup, see if your clutch will hold or not. Then be ready to really throw down next wed with me there racing and having fun.

3. I go tomorrow, tape for you, scramble to get my car back together sometime this week or weekend. YOu help me tune my car for next wed. THen we both go next wed and race and put down our fastest times of the season. (the key difference with this one is you helping me tune) haha.

That's a good list, except there's no racing next week.
I'm giving this clutch another try tomorow. If it slips I'll pull the tranny and install a 2600 pressure plate. Hopefully the disc is still good, it's only 6 months old.
I'll be glad to help you tune! Got the AFPR fixed yet? How's the boost leak tester working for ya?

Dave's always down to help. We should get him a pimp cup that says "D-MONEY" on it.

NO racing next week? WEAK!

ok, i'll go tomorrow, i just found out that there is some sort of meeting here tomorrow, hopefully i can dip out at 3 like im supposed to.

THe things i need to do to fix my car.
1. Change fluids
2. Track down boost leak
3. Figure out if my problem is tuning, gas, boost leak, or janky afpr
4. Fix problem
5. Turn up boost and tune.
6. Possible mods : CAI, Methanol Injection

I need to find an adaptor or some way of attaching my 3" boost leak tester to my 2 3/4" inlet turbo(or whatever size the 16g is). I'll probably just double up the coupler... one 3" one sinched down to the correct size coupler on the turbo.

Any suggestions on how to fix my FPR? should i just take it apart and re-tap the threads for the correct size screw? Thats kind of what i did when i cut the new screw at a 45* angle, so it would self tap, i just dont know if it "self tapped" its way into the diaphragm... if there is a diaphragm in there... Damn it!!! that old saying "buy once, buy right" keeps ringing in my head... at least i got all my performance parts used and dirt cheap...so if i have to buy em again i can just pay full price for the higher end parts.

The way those AFPR are made, the adjuster screw pushes on a hat, and the hat pushes on a spring, and the spring pushes on a diaphragm. The adjuster screw controls how much pressure the spring puts on the diaphragm. The hat is shaped so it stays centered on the screw, and the other side of the hat is shaped to stay centered on the spring so the spring stays square. If your new screw doesn't sit right it may mess up the spring pressure. A 45 degree angle on the end of the bolt doesn't sound so good. :(

So it would be a good idea to take it apart and fix it, or get a new one. Maybe install a stock fpr while working on it. Maybe your buddies at the machine shop could fix it nicely. I could give it a try, my shop has plenty of small stainless steel bolts and thread taps.

:dsm: if anyone wants to meet up at the Golden gate bridge visitors point to meet up and head out to infineon let me know. My name is Rob by the way

nice, i'll pull it off and take a look.

Dave, sorry i dont think im going to be able to make it today. My manager called me to tell me that i need to stay an extra hour today for this damn meeting. All i know is im going to stay clocked in, i better be getting paid for this. they keep putting me on more and more days.

I wont be able to get off work until at least 4pm. after that its just traffic and i dont have anyone to come with me in the carpool. You might only be getting 1 elimination run since everyone in comp rod is so good. Sorry man! I already packed some food for the races, and i taped that show last night, it came on again.

OMG
Cartman mode: You guts! You Guys! meh, meh, yer never gonna believe this, (pantpant) OMG this is so cool, you guys!check it out!

I won Comp Rod!

It was so cool. I only had a few good reaction times, and my dial in wasn't even close. Somehow I got lucky. A couple guys red lighted, so that was an easy pass. Two other guys were watching me at the line and trying to brake just enough to stay ahead of me, but since I was so far off my dial they broke out.

I tried hard to get into the tens again, but no luck. The heat was pretty bad and the clutch was still slipping at the wrong time. As you can see from the timeslip, I got a new best mph at 133.30

Maybe it'll be on Comcast?

*cleans dirt from under fingernails*

Yeah... your old ETS FMIC + piping, a new (to the car) alternator, new oil pressure sender, heat shields, downpipe nuts, some wiring cleanup, Gatorade coolant bottle... next, gotta boost leak test, adjust the TPS and BISS, set the timing, check the compression and I think I'm good to go. I'm sure the neighbors loved the sound of me starting it up and letting it idle for 20 minutes.

But damn, that's awesome. Trophy!

EDIT: And removed A/C.

NICE TROPHY WIN DAVE!!!

Sorry again that i couldnt make it! I hate this damn job. I wasnt sure how many runs you would get, i didnt want to miss your run when i was leaving work at 4:15. I would have been in traffic on the way there for at least an hour... And go figure! you ran all night and took the trophy. Maybe i jinxed myself and helped you win.

2 weeks countdown to get my car running/tuned.

No A/C and it got up to 102 at the track yesterday. No worries, just the thought of an ice enema was enough to give me goosebumps! Bbrrrrrr...

I like how the lady at the timeslip booth added extra smiley faces to my winning timeslip. It makes me feel like I got an "A" in recess!

haha, that lady is a hillbilly!!! I always check her out though... shes always dressed so skimpy!! Timeslip and a cleavage shot please. Plus, i spend the majority of my weekends in the fall/winter in a trailer duck hunting so i cant help myself from looking at the hillbilly timeslip lady.... i guess its in me. hahaha

What happened to our "turbo" stories in that other thread... i was laughing soooo hard at work to myself after posting/reading about turbo... i had to explain myself to my manager and he gave me the WTF look. But laughed along. Keep the good "turbo" stories coming. I want to hear some from you dave, how'd u meet turbo? Ive already shared MANY stories with paul and alex up at NL. hahahaaa man...

How I met turbo? It's not much of a story. I needed a set of stock injectors for smog, so I posted a WTB post on the BayDSM email list (it's not dead!) and he replied. So I drove up there to pick them up and suprise!

The timslip lady was different this time. She was blond. Unless maybe it was the same lady and she changed her hair color. dunno

Nice trophy man :thumb: Congratz!

It always nice to hear a healthy dsm coming along...unfortunately mines been leaking coolant like crazy. Been leaving puddles and line marks down the road :( Did some work last night, so hopefully she's good.

now that ive put a couple $20's worth of 91 through the tank, i really think that i was getting so much knock b/c i put 87 in by accident... a lot of the knock has gone away... The car still needs a tune very badly, but its not as bad as before.
I changed all my oils that needed it and im getting ready to do the boost leak test and install my new intake. I need to find a 3" bend and a K&N with a 3" inlet and i can make the CAI, but until then im just going to leave it with the smoother intake. Ive been running one made for a hard UICP and im using it with short route piping and its kind of tweaked at a wierd angle to work, the new intake pipe will fix that though, and will able to be upgraded to the CAI.

If all goes well i should be ready for the wednesday after this one. If my paycheck is good enough (which it wont because i missed a bunch of days when i was sick) i might go to fftec to get tuned, but we'll see about that.
