in the market for a new motor whats your opinon?

my timing belt broke about a month ago and there's no point in fixing a 150,000 mile motor so im just going to buy a new one.. i found this website

what do you think of this one? if not a good site is there anywhere i can find a good motor im willing to spend 1,500- 2,000 for one

i rather send your motor to a shop and get rebuilt rather than some jdm motor

whys that? wouldn't it cost more and lead to potentially more problems?

For sure rebuild your motor. You can probably reuse your crank and rods, just grab some forged pistons, new rings and bearings, take it to a shop and have the block machined and the rotating assembly balanced and blueprinted. You'll have a better than new motor.

thanks for link i did see that. however im not 100% of the damage done to my motor. there was a TON of oil coming out after this happened, whats normal amount of damage to this type of blow. i was going speed limit when the belt snapped.

also the head still need to be rebuilt

your head is gonna have bent valves. pull head and see if theres any damage to the pistons

I can vouch for the engines that come from tiger i have used some of their engines before for my s13 silvia and my 1g way back when the engine came fedex in about 6 days and was super clean!!!


But i can also vouch for dsm grave yard a buddy of mine got a motor from there and it still runs like a champ!!!

STM also does amazing work and can be trusted !!!!!

So the option is all up to you!!! Hope that helps

when the timing belt goes at that speed usually, you just bend a few valves in the head. unless you held the throttle down for a while afteer it snaps that can really rev the engine at a high rpm. while you got the head off drop your oil pan and check for any metal debris and look at your crank and rods. you said "a ton of oil coming out" was there a hole in the block or something ??? if not just get you valves redone and you should be good

id go with the rebuild route..

I wouldnt trust any used engines unless its very reputable..
my buddy had a 420a put in his gs and it blew 3k miles later..
(they said it had 70k miles on her...)
