My parts store is trying to tell me that the ###. import engines use differant parts, i.e. water pump, bearings, gaskets, etc... Anyone have any experience with this? I'd think they were all the same, but I want to make sure before I go any buy one and waste $1400 on something I can't get parts for.

The only thing I can think of that the shop could have been talking about is if you get up to real high hp/torque and plan on have quick trap times.. Things like external pumps and stuff like that.. I personally havent heard of anything like that... My shop actually just got me a brand new water pump for 60 bucks and a brand new oil pump for just under 100.. If thats any help

Do you mean a 4g63 engine from a diferent country? As in you are going to get an engine imported from Japan? If that is the case as long as you get the same type of engine as what you already have nothing should be diferent.

Your motor and transmission are already from Japan. They got here by being imported. Find a parts store that carries replacements for Peugeot, Alfa-Romeo, FIAT, MG and other cars you've never touched. The guy behind the counter will more likely have a clue.
