differant valve cover?

hi. every picture i have ever seen of a painted valve cover is a cover that doesn't look like mine. in fact, even in pics of other cars i havn't seen the same valve cover. the thing is, i have two cars of the same year/model and they both match. what i have is two 94 talon dl's, 1.8L non-turbo. the valve cover on both of them has no writing, whereas everyone else's seems too, and mine seem "thicker", rather than flat.

umm... could it be because you have a different engine?

Talon DL, Eclipse 1.8L = 4G37, everything else (1G at least) = 4G63

SOHC vs DOHC. The valve covers are bound to look different when there is different things underneath them.

i'll try and get some pics, also, i just found out that dsm's don't have distributors, but both of mine do, and they both have dsm stickers on them.

There is no need to really get pictures, because you have a completely different engine than most of the people on this site. You have the 1.8l SOHC, and most DSMs, come with the 2.0L DOHC. They are completely different in alot of aspects, including ignition systems and valve covers among most everything else. Search for 1.8l or something along those lines and you will see comparable engines.

while your out there staring at your engine bay, put a socket to those two bolts that hold the valve cover to the head and make sure its snug, mine always backed off on me....

I have one of those sitting around for install time, minus the Hyundai spark cover.

Wierd, I just bought one of those Hyundai covers from ebay after I cracked mine. I'll give you one very good reason to buy that cover!

Its stronger than stock. Alot stronger. My old valve cover feels very fragile in comparison. Obviously the spark plug cover is going to the trash tho.
